Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thy hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

“ You must not give a false report. Do not make common cause with the wicked to be a malicious witness.

I will destroy anyone who secretly slanders his neighbor; I cannot tolerate anyone with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape.

Malicious witnesses come forward; they question me about things I do not know.

“ If a malicious witness testifies against someone accusing him of a crime,the two people in the dispute are to stand in the presence of the LORD before the priests and judges in authority at that time.The judges are to make a careful investigation, and if the witness turns out to be a liar who has falsely accused his brother,you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from you.Then everyone else will hear and be afraid, and they will never again do anything evil like this among you.Do not show pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

Do not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Then they secretly persuaded some men to say,“ We heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; so they came, seized him, and took him to the Sanhedrin.They also presented false witnesses who said,“ This man never stops speaking against this holy place and the law.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death,but they could not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. Finally, two who came forwardstated,“ This man said,‘ I can destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

Do not go about spreading slander among your people; do not jeopardize your neighbor’s life; I am the LORD.

The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.

Do not give dishonest testimony against your neighbor.

Yet do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a clear conscience, so that when you are accused, those who disparage your good conduct in Christ will be put to shame.

Stay far away from a false accusation. Do not kill the innocent and the just, because I will not justify the guilty.

a lying witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up trouble among brothers.

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say, The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been thrown down.

And why not say, just as some people slanderously claim we say,“ Let us do what is evil so that good may come”? Their condemnation is deserved!

“ Do not steal. Do not act deceptively or lie to one another.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies perishes.

who does not slander with his tongue, who does not harm his friend or discredit his neighbor,

Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

Some soldiers also questioned him,“ What should we do?” He said to them,“ Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”

“ Which ones?” he asked him. Jesus answered: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness;

A lying witness will perish, but the one who listens will speak successfully.

But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,“ Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.”

Then seat two wicked men opposite him and have them testify against him, saying,“ You have cursed God and the king!” Then take him out and stone him to death.The men of his city, the elders and nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had sent word to them, just as it was written in the letters she had sent them.They proclaimed a fast and seated Naboth at the head of the people.The two wicked men came in and sat opposite him. Then the wicked men testified against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth has cursed God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Ziba slandered your servant to my lord the king. But my lord the king is like the angel of God, so do whatever you think best.

What will he give you, and what will he do to you, you deceitful tongue?

If this reaches the governor’s ears, we will deal with him and keep you out of trouble.”They took the money and did as they were instructed, and this story has been spread among Jewish people to this day.

A wicked person listens to malicious talk; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.

The north wind produces rain, and a backbiting tongue, angry looks.

For I have heard the gossip of many people,“ Terror is on every side! Report him; let’s report him!” Everyone I trusted watches for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived so that we might prevail against him and take our vengeance on him.”

A worthless witness mocks justice, and a wicked mouth swallows iniquity.

A person giving false testimony against his neighbor is like a club, a sword, or a sharp arrow.

“ Where is your master’s grandson?” the king asked.“ Why, he’s staying in Jerusalem,” Ziba replied to the king,“ for he said,‘ Today, the house of Israel will restore my grandfather’s kingdom to me.’”

Whoever speaks the truth declares what is right, but a false witness speaks deceit.

Don’t testify against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.

Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence.
