If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall come near to God to show whether or not he has put his hand to his neighbor’s property.

In any case of wrongdoing involving an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or anything else lost, and someone claims,‘ That’s mine,’ the case between the two parties is to come before the judges. The one the judges condemn must repay double to his neighbor.

“ Of these,” David said,“ 24,000 are to be in charge of the work on the Lord’s temple, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,

“ If a case is too difficult for you— concerning bloodshed, lawsuits, or assaults— cases disputed at your gates, you must go up to the place the Lord your God chooses.You are to go to the Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that time. Ask, and they will give you a verdict in the case.
