二月十四日，他們宰了逾越節的羔羊。祭司與利未人覺得慚愧，就使自己分別為聖，把燔祭奉到耶和華的殿中。他們遵照神人摩西的律法，按定例站在自己的地方；祭司從利未人手裏接過血來，灑出去。會眾中有許多人尚未分別為聖，所以利未人為所有不潔的人宰逾越節的羔羊，使他們歸耶和華為聖。從以法蓮、瑪拿西、以薩迦、西布倫來的許多百姓尚未自潔，他們卻吃逾越節的羔羊，不合所寫的條例。希西家為他們禱告說：「求至善的耶和華饒恕

他們就要在二月十四日黃昏的時候守節，要吃羔羊，以及無酵餅和苦菜。

希律和本丟‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，

「我已經聽見以色列人的怨言了。你要對他們說：『到黃昏的時候，你們要吃肉，早晨也必有食物得飽。你們就知道我是耶和華－你們的神。』」

「正月十四日，你們要守逾越節，七天的節期都要吃無酵餅。

以色列人出埃及地以後，第二年正月，耶和華在西奈的曠野吩咐摩西說：「以色列人應當在所定的日期守逾越節。你們要在本月十四日黃昏的時候，在所定的日期守這節，按照一切的律例典章守節。」

眾人都起來，把耶穌解到彼拉多面前。

眾人上去求彼拉多照常例給他們辦理。

祭司長和長老挑唆眾人，要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。

第一日要有聖會，任何勞動的工都不可做。

從正月十四日晚上，直到二十一日晚上，你們要吃無酵餅。

眾人卻一齊喊着說：「除掉這個人！釋放巴拉巴給我們！」

眾人都回答：「他的血歸到我們和我們的子孫身上！」

「你要守亞筆月，向耶和華－你的神守逾越節，因為在亞筆月，耶和華－你的神在夜間領你出埃及。你當在那裏，耶和華選擇作為他名居所的地方，從羊羣牛羣中，將逾越節的祭牲獻給耶和華－你的神。這祭牲不可和有酵的東西一起吃。因為你曾匆忙離開埃及地，你要吃無酵餅，就是困苦餅七日，好讓你一生的年日記得你從埃及地出來的那一日。在你全境內，七日不可見到酵母。第一日晚上所獻的肉，一點也不可留到早晨。你不可在耶和華－你神所賜的各城中，任何一座城裏，獻逾越節的祭，只可在那裏，耶和華－你神選擇作為他名居所的地方，在晚上日落的時候，就是你出埃及的時候，獻逾越節的祭。

他既按着神確定的旨意和預知被交與人，你們就藉着不法之人的手把他釘在十字架上，殺了。

一到早晨，眾祭司長、長老、文士，和全議會的人大家商議，就把耶穌綁着，解去，交給彼拉多。

他們把他釘十字架的時候是上午九點鐘。

約在下午三點鐘，耶穌大聲高呼，說：「以利！以利！拉馬撒巴各大尼？」就是說：「我的神！我的神！為甚麼離棄我？」站在那裏的人，有的聽見就說：「這個人呼叫以利亞呢！」其中有一個人立刻跑去，拿海綿蘸滿了醋，綁在蘆葦稈上，送給他喝。其餘的人說：「且等着，看以利亞來不來救他。」耶穌又大喊一聲，氣就斷了。

到了正午，全地都黑暗了，直到下午三點鐘。下午三點鐘的時候，耶穌大聲呼喊：「以羅伊！以羅伊！拉馬撒巴各大尼？」（翻出來就是：我的神！我的神！為甚麼離棄我？）

但是祭司長們煽動眾人，寧可要他釋放巴拉巴給他們。

我們都如羊走迷，各人偏行己路；耶和華使我們眾人的罪孽都歸在他身上。

你們棄絕了那聖潔公義者，反而要求釋放一個兇手給你們。
