「一月十四日從黃昏開始是耶和華的逾越節。

「一月十四日是耶和華的逾越節，

二月十四日，他們宰了逾越節的羊羔。祭司和利未人覺得慚愧，就潔淨自己，把燔祭帶到耶和華的殿裡，然後照上帝的僕人摩西的律法照常供職。祭司從利未人手中接過血，灑在壇上。因為會眾中間有許多人沒有潔淨自己，利未人就為所有不潔之人宰逾越節的羊羔獻給耶和華。有許多以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、以薩迦人和西布倫人沒有潔淨自己就吃了逾越節的羊羔，違背了律法的規定。希西迦就為他們禱告說：「凡誠心尋求他祖先的上帝耶和華的人，雖然沒有照聖所的律例潔淨自己，願良善的耶和華赦免他！」

他們可以在二月十四日黃昏守逾越節，要配無酵餅和苦菜一起吃逾越節的羊羔。

「果然如此，希律和本丟·彼拉多、外族人和以色列聚集在這城裡，要對抗你膏立的聖子耶穌，

「我已經聽見以色列人的怨言。你告訴他們，『到了黃昏，你們就會有肉吃，早晨就會有餅可以吃飽，這樣你們就知道我是你們的上帝耶和華。』」

「『一月十四日，你們要守逾越節七天，節期間要吃無酵餅。

以色列人離開埃及後第二年的一月，耶和華在西奈曠野對摩西說：「以色列人要在指定的時間守逾越節，就是在一月十四日黃昏按照有關的律例和典章守逾越節。」

於是，眾人動身把耶穌押到彼拉多那裡，

百姓聚來，要求彼拉多照慣例釋放囚犯。

祭司長和長老卻慫恿百姓要求釋放巴拉巴，處死耶穌。

第一天要舉行聖會，不可做日常工作。

從一月十四日晚上開始，直到二十一日晚上，你們都要吃無酵餅。

這時，眾人齊聲呼喊：「殺掉祂！釋放巴拉巴！」

眾人都說：「流祂血的責任由我們和我們的子孫承擔！」

「你們要在亞筆月為你們的上帝耶和華守逾越節，因為祂在這個月的一個晚上帶領你們離開了埃及。你們要在你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所，把牛羊作為逾越節的祭牲獻給祂。吃祭牲的時候，不可吃有酵的餅，七天之內要吃無酵餅，即憶苦餅，以便你們一生謹記離開埃及的日子，因為當時你們離開得很倉促。那七天之內，你們境內不可有酵母。第一天傍晚獻的祭肉不可留到第二天早晨。在你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們的各城中，你們不可隨便獻逾越節的祭牲，而是要在傍晚日落時分，即你們離開埃及的時候，到你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所獻逾越節的祭牲。

上帝照著自己的計劃和預知把耶穌交在你們手裡，你們藉著邪惡之人的手把祂釘死在十字架上了。

清早，祭司長、長老、律法教師和全公會的人商定後，便把耶穌綁起來押送到彼拉多那裡。

他們釘祂十字架的時間是在上午九點鐘。

大約下午三點，耶穌大聲呼喊：「以利，以利，拉馬撒巴各大尼？」意思是：「我的上帝，我的上帝，你為什麼離棄我？」有些站在旁邊的人聽見了，就說：「這人在呼叫以利亞呢。」其中一人連忙跑去拿了一塊海綿，蘸滿酸酒，綁在葦稈上送給祂喝。其他人卻說：「等一下！我們看看以利亞會不會來救祂。」耶穌又大喊了一聲，就斷了氣。

正午時分，黑暗籠罩著整個大地，一直到下午三點。大約在三點，耶穌大聲呼喊：「以羅伊，以羅伊，拉馬撒巴各大尼？」意思是：「我的上帝，我的上帝，你為什麼離棄我？」

但祭司長卻煽動百姓，叫他們要求彼拉多釋放巴拉巴。

我們都像迷路的羊，各人偏行己路，但上帝卻讓祂承擔我們眾人的罪惡。

你們棄絕了那聖潔公義者，竟然要求彼拉多釋放一個兇手。
