All share a common destiny— the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them.

Everyone will die someday. Death comes to godly and sinful people alike. It comes to good and bad people alike. It comes to“ clean” and“ unclean” people alike. Those who offer sacrifices and those who don’t offer them also die. A good person dies, and so does a sinner. Those who make promises die. So do those who are afraid to make them.

It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.

The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don’t.

那時，你們就要再看出義人與惡人、事奉神的人和不事奉他的人之間有甚麼分別。”

智慧人的眼目明亮，愚昧人卻走在黑暗中。我也知道同一的命運要臨到這兩種人身上。我自己心裡說：“臨到愚昧人身上的，也必臨到我身上；那麼，我為甚麼要更有智慧呢？”於是我心裡說：“這也是虛空。”因為智慧人和愚昧人一樣，沒有人永遠記念他們，在未來的日子裡，都會被人遺忘。可歎智慧人跟愚昧人一樣，終必死亡。

所以我說，善惡都是一樣，完全人和惡人，他都滅盡。

萬軍之耶和華說：“我必臨近你們施行審判；我要快快指證那些行邪術的、犯姦淫的、起假誓的、在工錢上欺壓雇工的、欺壓孤兒寡婦的、屈枉寄居的和不敬畏我的。”

我看見惡人興隆，我就嫉妒狂傲的人。

他們二人對她說：“如果你不遵照我們的話行，你叫我們起的誓就與我們無關了。你要留意，我們再到這地方的時候，你要把這條朱紅色線繫在你縋我們下去的窗戶上；你也要把你的父母、兄弟和你父的全家，都聚集在你的屋裡。任何人走出你家門，到外面去的，他的血就必歸到他自己的頭上，與我們無關；任何人同你在屋裡的，如果有人下手加害他，他的血就歸到我們頭上。如果你洩漏了我們這次的行動，那麼，你叫我們起的誓就與我們無關了。”

持守這個是好的，那個也不要放鬆，因為敬畏神的人，都必避免這兩個極端。

罪人既然作惡百次，還享長壽，那麼我知道敬畏神的人，就是在他面前存敬畏的心的，必享福樂。惡人卻沒有福樂，也得不到長壽；他好像影子的短暫，因為他在神面前不存敬畏的心。在世上有一件虛空的事，就是義人照惡人所行的受報應，惡人照義人所行的得報償。我說，這也是虛空。

神把智慧、知識和喜樂賜給他所喜悅的人，卻使罪人作收集和積聚的差事，把所得的歸給神所喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

往服喪之家，比往宴樂之家還好，因為死是人人的結局，活人要把這事放在心上。

他對我說：“這是向全地發出的咒詛：凡偷盜的必照著書卷這面所寫的被清除；凡起假誓的必照著那面所記的被清除。萬軍之耶和華說：‘我要使這書卷出去，進入盜賊的家和指著我的名起假誓之人的家，這書卷必留在他的家中，要把他家裡的木料和石頭都毀滅（這是萬軍之耶和華說的）。’”

惡人為甚麼總可以存活，活到老，而且財勢強大？他們的後裔在他們面前堅定，他們眼見自己的子孫在他們周圍立定。他們的家宅平安無懼，神的刑杖也不加在他們身上。他們的公牛交配而不落種，他們的母牛下犢而不掉胎，他們叫小孩子出去多如羊群，他們的年輕人四處跳躍；他們跟著琴鼓高歌，又因著簫的聲音歡樂。他們幸福度過他們的日子，一剎那間下陰間，毫無病痛。然而他們對神說：‘離開我們吧，我們不願意曉得你的道路。全能者是誰，竟要我們服事他呢？我們若向他懇求，有甚麼益處呢？’他們的福樂豈不是掌握在他們的手中？惡人的謀算離我很遠。惡人的燈何嘗熄滅？災難何嘗臨到他們身上？神何嘗在忿怒中把痛苦分給他們！他們何嘗像風前的乾草，何嘗像暴風颳去的糠秕？你們說：‘神為惡人的兒女積蓄罪孽’，我卻說：‘神報應他本人，好叫他自己明白。’願他親眼看見自己敗落，願他喝全能者的烈怒。他的歲月既然斷絕，他還會看顧自己身後的家嗎？神既然審判那些在高位的，誰能把甚麼知識教給他呢？有人到死的時候仍然氣力充足，享盡平靜與安逸；他的奶桶充滿鮮奶，他的骨髓滋潤。有人到死的時候心裡痛苦，一生未嘗美食；他們都一起躺在塵土中，蟲子爬滿他們身上。我知道你們的心思，與你們惡待我的計謀。你們問：‘霸王的房屋在哪裡？惡人住過的帳棚在哪裡？’你們沒有問問過路的人嗎？不承認他們所提的證據嗎？就是惡人在災難的日子得存留，在神發怒的時候得逃脫。他所行的，有誰敢當面指責他呢？他所作的，有誰能報應他呢？然而他被人抬到墳墓裡，並且有人看守他的墓地。他以谷中的土塊為甘甜，所有的人跟在他後面，走在他前面的不計其數。你們的回話既然只存虛假，怎樣徒然安慰我呢？”

他藐視誓言，背棄條約；他已宣誓效忠，卻又行了這一切事，所以他必不能逃脫。因此主耶和華這樣說：我指著我的永生起誓：他既然藐視我的誓言，背棄我的約，我必使這罪歸到他的頭上。

我要你指著耶和華天地的神起誓，不可從我現在居住的迦南人中，為我的兒子娶他們的女子為妻。

那人即使活了一千年，再活一千年，也享受不到甚麼；他們兩者不是都歸一個地方嗎？

現在我們稱驕傲的人為有福，作惡的人得建立；他們雖然試探神，卻得以逃脫。’”

如果那女子不願跟你來，我叫你所起的這誓就與你無關了。只是不可帶我的兒子回到那裡去。”於是，僕人把手放在他主人亞伯拉罕的大腿下，為這事向亞伯拉罕起誓。

他們進了樹林，看見有蜂蜜流出來，卻沒有人敢伸手取蜜入口，因為眾人都害怕所起的誓。
