我復思天下之秉鈞者、虐遇民人、民罹其酷、靡不墮淚、慰藉無人。我竊思死者較生者為尤幸。又思未生於斯世者、未見斯人之穢行、較生而復死者、尤為幸甚。我觀世人、勞而得功、同人媢嫉、此亦捕風捉影而已。

以金為寶者、金不足以滿其心、惟貨是好者、貨不足以充其欲、此亦屬於虛而已。財充則用繁、有財何裨。

上帝所悅者、賜以智慧歡樂、若惡人則勞苦之、以其所積貨財、賜於善良、凡百之事、無非捕風捉影、以此益見矣。

饑渴慕義者福矣、以其將得飽也、

吾儕知萬物、至今共嘆劬勞、不第此、我儕初得聖神者、亦心歎望眾子之顯、吾身之贖焉、

由後而觀、覺勞而得者、莫非捕風捉影、於事無益、

道甚玄遠、誰能測度。我盡心求道、欲知事理之所以、亦欲知愚昧之不善、維彼淫婦、心若網羅、手若縲絏、較諸死亡愈苦、為善者避其凶、作惡者遭其害。

外此更有不知足者、三四不等、若水蛭善吮、貪饕無厭焉、瘞埋之塚、不妊之婦、受水之區、燃物之火、俱不知足。
