The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you,“ You are not to go back that way again.”

The king must not get large numbers of horses for himself. He must not make the people return to Egypt to get more horses. The Lord has told you,“ You must not go back there again.”

Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you,‘ You shall never return that way again.’

“ The king must not build up a large stable of horses for himself or send his people to Egypt to buy horses, for the Lord has told you,‘ You must never return to Egypt.’

However, he must not acquire many horses for himself or send the people back to Egypt to acquire many horses, for the LORD has told you,‘ You are never to go back that way again.’

In any case, he is not to acquire many horses for himself, nor shall he make the people return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you,‘ You shall never again return that way.’

But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you,‘ You shall not return that way again.’

Only he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he may multiply horses; forasmuch as Jehovah hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.

However, he must not acquire many horses for himself or send the people back to Egypt to acquire many horses, for the Lord has told you,‘ You are never to go back that way again.’

所羅門有套車的馬四萬匹和騎兵一萬二千人。

“他們必返回埃及地（“他們必返回埃及地”或譯：“難道他們不會返回埃及地嗎？”），亞述要作他們的王；因為他們不肯回來歸我。

法老讓人民離開的時候，雖然非利士的路很近，神卻不領他們從那裡走，因為神說：“恐怕百姓看見戰爭而後悔，就回埃及去。”

可是這人背叛了巴比倫王，差遣使者到埃及去，要得戰馬和大軍。他能亨通嗎？行這樣事的人，怎能逃脫呢？他破壞條約，怎能逃脫呢？

摩西對人民說：“不要懼怕，要站著，觀看耶和華今天為你們施行的拯救；因為你們今天看見的埃及人，必永遠不再看見了。

大衛從他那裡擄獲了戰車一千輛，騎兵七千（按照《馬索拉文本》，“騎兵七千”作“騎兵一千七百”，現按《七十士譯本》翻譯；參《死海古卷》和代上18:4），步兵二萬，大衛把所有戰車的馬的蹄筋都砍斷。只留下一百輛戰車的馬。（“大衛把所有戰車的馬的蹄筋都砍斷，只留下一百輛戰車的馬”或譯：“大衛毀壞了所有戰車，只留下一百輛戰車”）

說：“那要統治你們的王將這樣治理你們：他必徵用你們的兒子，派他們作他的戰車兵、騎兵、在車前奔走的前鋒，

所羅門有四千馬廊的車馬，還有馬兵一萬二千，他把這些人馬安置在囤車城和耶路撒冷，就是與王在一起。

所羅門聚集戰車和騎兵，他有戰車一千四百輛，騎兵一萬二千人，安置在屯車城和耶路撒冷，就是與王在一起。王在耶路撒冷使銀子好像石頭一樣，使香柏木好像平原的桑樹那麼多。所羅門的馬是從埃及和古厄運出來的，是王的商人從古厄按著定價買來的。

耶和華為甚麼把我們領到這地來，死在刀劍之下呢？我們的妻子和孩子要被擄掠。我們回埃及去，豈不更好嗎？”於是他們彼此說：“我們另立一個首領，回埃及去吧。”

亞述不能救我們，我們必不再騎馬；我們親手所做的，我們必不再稱為‘我們的神’；因為在你那裡，孤兒才得著憐憫。”

那時哈及的兒子亞多尼雅妄自尊大，說：“我必作王。”就為自己預備了戰車、騎兵，又有五十人在他前面奔走。

那些下埃及求幫助，倚靠馬匹，倚靠眾多戰車，依靠十分強壯的馬兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不求問耶和華的，有禍了！耶和華是智慧的，他必降下災禍，決不收回自己的話，卻要起來攻擊作惡者之家，又攻擊那些助人作孽的。埃及人是人，並不是神；他們的馬匹是血肉，並不是靈；耶和華一伸手，那幫助人的就絆倒，那受幫助的也必仆倒，並且一同滅亡。

現在你可以與我的主人亞述王打賭：我給你二千匹馬，看你這一方面能否派出足夠騎馬的人來。若不能，你怎能擊退我主的臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車和馬兵嗎？

有人靠車，有人靠馬。我們卻靠耶和華我們神的名。

或說：‘不！我們要去埃及地，在那裡看不到戰爭，聽不見號角的聲音，也不會因缺乏糧食而飢餓；我們要留在那裡。’這樣，猶大餘剩的人哪，你們現在要聽耶和華的話！萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘你們若決意去埃及，到那裡寄居，你們懼怕的刀劍必在埃及地追上你們；你們恐懼的饑荒必在埃及緊隨著你們；你們必死在那裡。
