你總要立耶和華你的神揀選的人作君王管理你；你要從你的兄弟中立一位作你的君王；不可立你的兄弟以外的人作王管理你。

be sure to appoint over you a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your fellow Israelites. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not an Israelite.

When that happens, make sure you appoint over yourselves a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your own people. Don’t appoint over yourselves someone from another country. Don’t choose anyone who isn’t from one of the tribes of Israel.

you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

If this happens, be sure to select as king the man the Lord your God chooses. You must appoint a fellow Israelite; he may not be a foreigner.

我兒啊，現在願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，照著他應許你，建造耶和華你的神的殿宇。

撒母耳對眾民說：“你們看見耶和華所揀選的人沒有？在眾人中沒有一個可與他相比。”眾人就大聲歡呼：“願王萬歲！”

在我的眾子中（因為耶和華賜給我許多兒子），他揀選了我的兒子所羅門，坐耶和華的國位，統治以色列。

不要使你的腳赤露，你的喉嚨乾渴！你卻說：‘沒用的！因為我愛外族人的神，我要跟從他們！’

耶西就派人去把大衛帶回來。他面色紅潤，眼目清秀，外貌英俊。耶和華說：“就是這一個，你起來膏立他吧！”撒母耳就拿起盛油的角，在他的兄長中膏立他。從那天起，耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛。後來撒母耳動身往拉瑪去了。

世上的君王起來，首領聚在一起，敵對耶和華和他所膏立的，說：

從前掃羅作我們的王的時候，領導以色列人行動的是你。耶和華也曾對你說：‘你要牧養我的子民以色列，要作以色列的領袖。’”

原來，在掃羅來到的前一天，耶和華已經啟示撒母耳說：“明天大約這個時候，我要差派一個人從便雅憫地到你那裡去，你要膏立他作我子民以色列人的領袖。他要拯救我的子民脫離非利士人的手。我眷顧了我的子民，因為他們的哀求已經達到我這裡。”撒母耳看見了掃羅，耶和華就對撒母耳說：“你看，這就是我對你所說的那人，他要統治我的子民。”

“我已經在錫安我的聖山上，立了我的君王。”

預備作戰的首領來到希伯崙見大衛，要照著耶和華的命令把掃羅的國位轉歸大衛，他們的數目如下：

請把你的意見告訴我們，納稅給凱撒，可不可以呢？”
