必命約書亞、強固厥志、導民濟河、得爾所見之土、

我所許之地、爾不得入、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、及嫩之子約書亞、可得而入。

此數人乃摩西遣之、以窺迦南者、嫩之子阿書亞、摩西易其名、為約書亞、

命嫩之子約書亞曰、強乃志、壯乃心、蓋爾必導以色列族、入耶和華所誓之地、彼必佑爾。○

耶和華與摩西晤對、如人與友相語、摩西歸營、惟嫩之子約書亞。為摩西從者、弗離於幕。

摩西告約書亞曰、爾當選士卒、詰朝與亞馬力人戰、我執上帝之杖、立於山巔。約書亞遵命、與亞馬力人戰。摩西、亞倫、戶耳登於山巔。摩西舉手、則以色列族勝、垂手、則亞馬力人勝。摩西手疲、不能舉、亞倫戶耳移石使坐、左右扶翼、手不搖撼、至於日入。約書亞以刃擊敗亞馬力人。耶和華諭摩西曰、我將滅亞馬力族於天下、當載於簡、口誦之、俾約書亞聽聞。

蓋耶和華曾有言曰、其人必死於曠野、故靡有孑遺。所尚存者、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、嫩之子約書亞而已。

耶和華諭摩西曰嫩之子約書亞、其人感於神、汝可簡取、按手其上、置於祭司以利亞撒及會眾前、付托以命、以汝尊榮、加諸其身、使以色列會眾、無不遵循、彼必立於祭司、以利亞撒前、以利亞撒用烏陵、諮諏我意、彼及以色列會眾、必聽斯命而出入。摩西簡約書亞立於祭司以利亞撒、及會眾前、按手其上、以命托之、遵耶和華命焉。

摩西與從者約書亞興、獨登上帝之高崗。

惟其中二人、嫩之子約書亞、耶孚尼子迦勒、安然無恙。

屬以法蓮支派嫩之子阿書亞、

耶和華諭摩西曰、爾逝世之期伊邇、當召約書亞、偕立於會幕中、我必付託之。摩西約書亞遵命、立於會幕。

遣使者告耶西曰大闢已沾我恩、容侍我側。

耶和華僕摩西既沒、耶和華諭摩西從者、嫩之子約書亞、曰、

人勤庶事、當在王所、必不久居賤役。

強乃志、壯乃心、昔我誓厥祖、欲以斯地賜斯民、汝必使民得之、惟爾強志壯心、守我僕摩西所諭之律法、不偏於左、不偏於右、則不論所往、俾爾納福。律例之書、當口誦不輟、晝夜思維、遵行所載、可得坦途、而蒙福祉。我豈不曰、強爾志、壯爾心、切勿恐懼、不論所往、爾上帝耶和華佑爾。○
