波斯王古列第三年、有神言啓示給名叫伯提沙撒的但以理；這神言是真的，是有關於大鬪爭。但以理很注意這神言；並理會到所見的景象。

但你呢、但以理啊，你要把這些話封閉着，把這卷書密封着、到末了時期。而大眾們卻要跑來跑去追求、使知識增長。』

現在我來是要使你明白你本國之民日後終必遭遇的事，因為這異象還是關於將來許多年日的。』

他說：『但以理啊，去你的吧！因為這些話是已封閉又密封着、到末了時期的。

他對我說：『不可蓋印封這書上神言傳講的話；因為時機近了。

『人子啊，你看，以色列家的人說：「他見的異象是關於將來許多日子的，他傳了神言是指着極遠時候的。」

七雷說話的時候，我正要寫下來；就聽見有聲音從天上說：『你要蓋印封上七雷所說的話，不可寫出來。』

我對她說：『你應當為我過着靜居守己的生活許多年日，不可行淫，不可歸別人為妻；我對你也要善守夫道。因為以色列人也要許多年日過着靜居守己的生活；沒有王、沒有首領、沒有祭祀、沒有聖柱、沒有以弗得、沒有家神像。

牠逕自擴大勢力，甚至自以為是天象之君，竟把不斷獻與天象之君的燔祭除掉，把天象之君的聖建築拋棄。有軍隊被遣派，以犯罪行為阻撓不斷獻之祭；牠將真理拋棄地上，任意而行，無不順利。我聽見有一位聖者在說話；又有一位聖者問那說話的聖者，說：『關於以下這些事的異象要延到幾時呢？關於這不斷獻的燔祭之被除掉和那使地荒涼的罪過行為、以及將聖所和拜神儀節任意踐踏的事；要延到幾時呢？他對他說：『要延到二千三百個暮暮朝朝，然後聖所才能正宗化過來。』我、我但以理、既見了這異象、就想法子要明白它的意義；忽見有一位形狀像人的站在我面前。

他們必被聚集，像俘虜被聚集於坑中，被監禁於監牢裏；過了許多日子就被察罰。
