撒母耳睡到天亮，就開了永恆主的殿門；但是撒母耳不敢將異象告訴以利。

只剩下我獨自一人；我見了這大景象，便渾身全無餘力；我的美貌變色，力氣都持不住。

忽有一位像人形相的摸觸着我的嘴脣，我便開口說話；我向那站在我面前的說：『大師啊，我因見這景象，猛然傷痛，連力氣都持不住了。

我見公山羊走近公綿羊，憤激惱怒牠，牴觸牠，折斷牠的兩角；綿羊在牠面前站立不住；牠將綿羊觸倒在地上，用腳踐踏牠；沒有能援救綿羊脫離牠的手的。

我在異象中觀看着；見了異象的時候，好像是在書珊宮堡，在以攔省。我在異象中觀看着，又好像在烏萊河邊。

我聽到你的事了，聽說你有聖神之靈，說你裏面有亮光，有通達，有非常高超的智慧。

於是王使但以理成為高貴大臣，又賜給他許多珍貴的贈品，使他掌權管理巴比倫全省，又立他為總務長管理巴比倫所有的博士。但以理向王請求，王就分派沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、管理巴比倫省的政務；但以理卻仍留在王的門庭中。

又在他們以上立了總長三人（但以理是其中之一），使這些總督向他們三人呈報告，免得王精神受虧損。於是這但以理，因有非常高超之靈在他裏頭，他便出類拔萃於眾總長和總督之上；王就想要立他來管理全國。
