我就下了諭旨、將巴比倫所有的博士都召到我面前，叫他們把夢的解析告訴我。

王吩咐人將學術士和用法術的、行邪術的、迦勒底博學的人、都召了來，將王的夢告訴王。他們就來，站在王面前。

有人對你們說：『要求問那些交鬼的和行巫術的，就是那啁啾叫嗡嗡鳴的人。一族之民難道不能求問自己的神、而為活人去求問死人麼？』

你儘管堅決進行你的符咒吧！進行你幼年所勞碌而行的，進行你許多邪術吧！或者能有用處！或者可以使人戰抖呀！你因你許多計謀而勞累；如今只管讓那些劃分天象、觀看星辰、在月初播知將來之事的、都站起來，救你脫離所要臨到於你的事呀！看吧，他們必像碎稭，被火焚燒；不能援救自己，脫離火燄之力：這不是可烤而取暖的炭火，也不是可坐於其前的燄火。

這些細瘦的穗子把那七個又肥又飽滿的穗子吞下去；法老就醒了，啊，原來是個夢。到了早晨，法老心裏煩亂，就打發人把埃及所有的學術士和智慧人都召了來；法老將他的夢向他們敘說，卻沒有人能給法老解釋。
