When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.

Those who try to figure things out by using magic came. So did those who study the heavens. I told all of them what I had dreamed. But they couldn’t tell me what it meant.

Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me its interpretation.

是那使信口胡謅者的兆頭無效的，使占卜者變成了狂妄人，使智慧人退後，使他們的智識變為愚拙的，

你們呢、可不要聽你們的神言人、占卜者、和作夢者、算命者、和行邪術者：他們告訴你們說：「你們必不至於服事巴比倫王。」因為他們向你們傳的神言是虛假，以致你們遷移、遠離你們的土地，以致我放逐你們，使你們滅亡。

他們第二次對王說：『請王將夢告訴僕人，僕人就可以將夢的解析講明白。』

從前雅尼和佯庇用甚麼方法反對摩西，這些人也這樣反對真理；他們是心思壞透了的人，在信仰的事上全不中用。但他們再也不能往前進了；因為他們的愚昧必在眾人面前顯得明明白白，像那兩人一樣。

尼布甲尼撒執掌國政之第二年，他作了個夢，心裏煩亂不安，使他睡不着覺。王吩咐人將學術士和用法術的、行邪術的、迦勒底博學的人、都召了來，將王的夢告訴王。他們就來，站在王面前。

迦勒底博學的人在王面前回答說：『世界上沒有人能將王所問的事說出來的，因為沒有王、多麼大、多麼有權力、曾經向任何學術士、或用法術的、或迦勒底博學的人、問過這樣事的。

但以理在王面前回答王說：『王所問的那機密事、博士和用法術的跟學術士和占卜的都不能告訴王；

到了早晨，法老心裏煩亂，就打發人把埃及所有的學術士和智慧人都召了來；法老將他的夢向他們敘說，卻沒有人能給法老解釋。
