Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

So don’t let anyone judge you because of what you eat or drink. Don’t let anyone judge you about holy days. I’m talking about special feasts and New Moons and Sabbath days.

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

Therefore, don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.

Therefore, no one is to act as your judge in regard to food and drink, or in respect to a festival or a new moon, or a Sabbath day—

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God;

Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil.For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

You observe days and months and seasons and years!

and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the Lord on Sabbaths, new moons, and feast days, according to the number required of them, regularly before the Lord.

It shall be the prince’s duty to furnish the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the new moons, and the Sabbaths, all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel: he shall provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make atonement on behalf of the house of Israel.

it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”

One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables.Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.

for the showbread, the regular grain offering, the regular burnt offering, the Sabbaths, the new moons, the appointed feasts, the holy things, and the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

But if someone says to you,“ This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience?If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Command the people of Israel and say to them,‘ My offering, my food for my food offerings, my pleasing aroma, you shall be careful to offer to me at its appointed time.’And you shall say to them, This is the food offering that you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old without blemish, day by day, as a regular offering.The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with a quarter of a hin of beaten oil.It is a regular burnt offering, which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord.Its drink offering shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb. In the Holy Place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the Lord.The other lamb you shall offer at twilight. Like the grain offering of the morning, and like its drink offering, you shall offer it as a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.“ On the Sabbath day, two male lambs a year old without blemish, and two tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, and its drink offering:this is the burnt offering of every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.“ At the beginnings of your months, you shall offer a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish;also three tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull, and two tenths of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram;and a tenth of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for every lamb; for a burnt offering with a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord.Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, a third of a hin for a ram, and a quarter of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering of each month throughout the months of the year.Also one male goat for a sin offering to the Lord; it shall be offered besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.“ On the fourteenth day of the first month is the Lord’s Passover,and on the fifteenth day of this month is a feast. Seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work,but offer a food offering, a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls from the herd, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old; see that they are without blemish;also their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil; three tenths of an ephah shall you offer for a bull, and two tenths for a ram;a tenth shall you offer for each of the seven lambs;also one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you.You shall offer these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a regular burnt offering.In the same way you shall offer daily, for seven days, the food of a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. You shall not do any ordinary work,but offer a burnt offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord: two bulls from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old;also their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths of an ephah for each bull, two tenths for one ram,a tenth for each of the seven lambs;

And he said to them,“ The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?”( Thus he declared all foods clean.)

but deal only with food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.

And he said,“ Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.” She said,“ All is well.”

“ Observe the month of Abib and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.And you shall offer the Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God, from the flock or the herd, at the place that the Lord will choose, to make his name dwell there.You shall eat no leavened bread with it. Seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction— for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste— that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt.No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, nor shall any of the flesh that you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until morning.You may not offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you,but at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell in it, there you shall offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, at the time you came out of Egypt.And you shall cook it and eat it at the place that the Lord your God will choose. And in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents.For six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to the Lord your God. You shall do no work on it.“ You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain.Then you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give as the Lord your God blesses you.And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there.You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.“ You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress.You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns.For seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.“ Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed.Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, These are the appointed feasts of the Lord that you shall proclaim as holy convocations; they are my appointed feasts.“ Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwelling places.“ These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them.In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight, is the Lord’s Passover.And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work.But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.And on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering to the Lord.And the grain offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, a food offering to the Lord with a pleasing aroma, and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a fourth of a hin.And you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.“ You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering.You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the Lord.You shall bring from your dwelling places two loaves of bread to be waved, made of two tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour, and they shall be baked with leaven, as firstfruits to the Lord.And you shall present with the bread seven lambs a year old without blemish, and one bull from the herd and two rams. They shall be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.And you shall offer one male goat for a sin offering, and two male lambs a year old as a sacrifice of peace offerings.And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the Lord, with the two lambs. They shall be holy to the Lord for the priest.And you shall make a proclamation on the same day. You shall hold a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work. It is a statute forever in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.“ And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, nor shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.”And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Now on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the Lord.And you shall not do any work on that very day, for it is a Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God.For whoever is not afflicted on that very day shall be cut off from his people.And whoever does any work on that very day, that person I will destroy from among his people.You shall not do any work. It is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves. On the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your Sabbath.”And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the people of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths to the Lord.On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work.For seven days you shall present food offerings to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the Lord. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.“ These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the Lord food offerings, burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day,besides the Lord’s Sabbaths and besides your gifts and besides all your vow offerings and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to the Lord.“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord seven days. On the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.And you shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.You shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All native Israelites shall dwell in booths,that your generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”Thus Moses declared to the people of Israel the appointed feasts of the Lord.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.

However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died.Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; it is a statute forever.

“ Speak to the people of Israel, saying, These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat.Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.“ These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.But anything in the seas or the rivers that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you.You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.“ And these you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten; they are detestable: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,the kite, the falcon of any kind,every raven of any kind,the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind,the little owl, the cormorant, the short-eared owl,the barn owl, the tawny owl, the carrion vulture,the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.“ All winged insects that go on all fours are detestable to you.Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to hop on the ground.Of them you may eat: the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind.But all other winged insects that have four feet are detestable to you.“ And by these you shall become unclean. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening,and whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.Every animal that parts the hoof but is not cloven-footed or does not chew the cud is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.And all that walk on their paws, among the animals that go on all fours, are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening,and he who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; they are unclean to you.“ And these are unclean to you among the swarming things that swarm on the ground: the mole rat, the mouse, the great lizard of any kind,the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.These are unclean to you among all that swarm. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening.And anything on which any of them falls when they are dead shall be unclean, whether it is an article of wood or a garment or a skin or a sack, any article that is used for any purpose. It must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it shall be clean.And if any of them falls into any earthenware vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.Any food in it that could be eaten, on which water comes, shall be unclean. And all drink that could be drunk from every such vessel shall be unclean.And everything on which any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean. Whether oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces. They are unclean and shall remain unclean for you.Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern holding water shall be clean, but whoever touches a carcass in them shall be unclean.And if any part of their carcass falls upon any seed grain that is to be sown, it is clean,but if water is put on the seed and any part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.“ And if any animal which you may eat dies, whoever touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening,and whoever eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. And whoever carries the carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.“ Every swarming thing that swarms on the ground is detestable; it shall not be eaten.Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, any swarming thing that swarms on the ground, you shall not eat, for they are detestable.You shall not make yourselves detestable with any swarming thing that swarms, and you shall not defile yourselves with them, and become unclean through them.For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls on the ground.For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”This is the law about beast and bird and every living creature that moves through the waters and every creature that swarms on the ground,to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean and between the living creature that may be eaten and the living creature that may not be eaten.

“ If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people.For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.“ Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.And every person who eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean.

Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.

David said to Jonathan,“ Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit at table with the king. But let me go, that I may hide myself in the field till the third day at evening.

saying,“ When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances,

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! Behold, I have never defiled myself. From my youth up till now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has tainted meat come into my mouth.”

“ You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.”But Peter began and explained it to them in order:“ I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me.Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air.And I heard a voice saying to me,‘ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’But I said,‘ By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’But the voice answered a second time from heaven,‘ What God has made clean, do not call common.’This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven.And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea.And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say,‘ Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter;he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning.And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said,‘ John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying,“ Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. And we will forego the crops of the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.

Then Jonathan said to him,“ Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.

but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.

These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival.

“ Thus says the Lord God: The gate of the inner court that faces east shall be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened.The prince shall enter by the vestibule of the gate from outside, and shall take his stand by the post of the gate. The priests shall offer his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be shut until evening.The people of the land shall bow down at the entrance of that gate before the Lord on the Sabbaths and on the new moons.

“ You shall not eat any abomination.These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat.Yet of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cloven you shall not eat these: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not part the hoof, are unclean for you.And the pig, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.“ Of all that are in the waters you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat.And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.“ You may eat all clean birds.But these are the ones that you shall not eat: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,the kite, the falcon of any kind;every raven of any kind;the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind;the little owl and the short-eared owl, the barn owland the tawny owl, the carrion vulture and the cormorant,the stork, the heron of any kind; the hoopoe and the bat.And all winged insects are unclean for you; they shall not be eaten.All clean winged things you may eat.“ You shall not eat anything that has died naturally. You may give it to the sojourner who is within your towns, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a people holy to the Lord your God.“ You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

On the day of your gladness also, and at your appointed feasts and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings. They shall be a reminder of you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”

And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law.
