亚哈对俄巴底说：“你走遍这地，到所有的水泉和溪水那里去看看，也许我们可以找到青草，使骡马能够生存，免得牲畜灭绝。”

他又对我说：“人子啊，我要断绝耶路撒冷的粮食。他们要满心忧虑，吃配给的口粮；十分惊惶，喝配给的水。他们缺粮缺水，各人都必惊惶，因自己的罪孽衰弱而死。”

我以为她作了这些事以后，就必回转过来，可是她没有回转。她诡诈的妹妹犹大也看见了。

他们的显贵差派童仆去打水；童仆来到池边，却找不到水，就拿着空的器皿回来；他们失望难过，蒙着自己的头。土地干裂，因为地上没有雨水；农夫失望，都蒙着自己的头。

你要吃，却吃不饱；因你的腹中常有疾病。你要怀孕，却不能生下来；你生下来的，我都要交给刀剑。

困苦和贫穷的人寻求水，却没有水；他们的舌头因口渴而干燥；我耶和华必应允他们，我以色列的神必不离弃他们。我要在光秃的高处开辟江河，在山谷之间开辟泉源；我要使旷野变为水池，使干地变成水泉。

“我曾多次用热风和霉烂击打你们的园子和葡萄园，叫蝗虫吃光你们的无花果树和橄榄树；但你们仍不归向我。”这是耶和华的宣告。“我在你们中间降下瘟疫，正如临到埃及的瘟疫一样；我用刀杀掉你们的年轻人，你们被掳去的马匹也遭杀戮；我使你们营里死尸的臭气扑鼻，但你们仍不归向我。”这是耶和华的宣告。“我倾覆你们，就像倾覆所多玛和蛾摩拉一样；你们像一根木柴，从火里抽出来；但你们仍不归向我。”这是耶和华的宣告。

虽然以色列的骄傲当面指证自己，他们却不回转归向耶和华他们的神，也不因此寻求他。

在耶路撒冷的先知中，我看见可怕的事。他们犯奸淫，行事虚假，坚固恶人的手，以致没有人离弃恶行；在我看来，他们都像所多玛人，耶路撒冷的居民也像蛾摩拉人一样。”
