亞波羅有意去亞該亞，以弗所的弟兄姊妹就鼓勵他，並寫信請當地的門徒接待他。亞波羅到了之後，帶給當地蒙恩信主的人很大幫助。他在公眾面前有力地駁倒猶太人，引用聖經證明耶穌就是基督。

因為我會賜給你們口才、智慧，使你們的仇敵全無反駁的餘地。

但有些來自古利奈、亞歷山大、基利迦和亞細亞、屬於「自由人會堂」的猶太人聯合起來與司提凡辯論。他們無法駁倒司提凡，因為他靠著智慧和聖靈說話。

義人堅守自己的道，手潔的人力量倍增。

耶穌對他們說：「我跟你們在一起的時候曾經說過，摩西的律法書、先知的書以及詩篇裡有關我的記載都要應驗。」於是，耶穌開啟了他們的心竅，使他們明白這些經文，

靠著賜我力量的那位，我凡事都能做。

他們越走越有力，都要到錫安朝見上帝。

解釋、證明基督必須受害，然後從死裡復活，又說：「我向你們宣講的這位耶穌就是基督。」

但他手持強弓，雙臂穩健有力，因為雅各的大能者——以色列的牧者和磐石幫助他。

但祂說：「我的恩典足夠你用，因為我的能力在人的軟弱上更顯得全備。」所以，我更喜歡誇耀自己的軟弱，好讓基督的能力蔭庇我。因此，為了基督的緣故，我欣然面對軟弱、凌辱、迫害、艱難和困苦，因為我軟弱的時候也正是我剛強的時候。
