Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.

In you have they treated father and mother with contempt. Among you they have oppressed the foreigner. In you they have wronged the fatherless and the widow.

Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain,“ The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?

Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,

But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety toward their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.Now she who is a widow indeed and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
