掃羅卻殘害教會，逐家進去，連男帶女拉去坐監。

聽見的人都很驚奇，說：“在耶路撒冷殘害求告這名的，不是這個人嗎？他來這裡不是要緝拿他們交給祭司長嗎？”

但亞拿尼亞回答：“主啊，我聽見許多人說起這個人，他在耶路撒冷作了許多苦害你聖徒的事；並且他在這裡得到祭司長的授權，要捆綁所有求告你名的人。”

我曾經迫害信奉這道的人直至死地，把男男女女都捆綁起來，送進監獄，這是大祭司和全公議會都可以給我作證的。我也從他們那裡得到了寫給眾弟兄的信，就去大馬士革，要把那裡的人捆綁起來，帶到耶路撒冷接受懲罰。

司提反被害，掃羅也欣然同意。從那天起，耶路撒冷的教會大受迫害；除了使徒以外，所有的人都分散到猶太和撒瑪利亞各地。

彼得周遊各地的時候，也到了住在呂大的聖徒那裡。

我原是使徒中最小的，本來沒有資格稱為使徒，因為我曾經迫害神的教會。

至於世上的聖民，他們都是尊貴榮美的人，全是我所喜愛的。

奉神旨意作基督耶穌使徒的保羅，寫信給住在以弗所，在基督耶穌裡忠心的聖徒。

掃羅到了耶路撒冷，想要接近門徒，但大家都怕他，不信他是個門徒。

我說：‘主啊，他們知道我曾把信你的人監禁起來，又在各會堂拷打他們，並且你的見證人司提反受害流血的時候，我也親自在場，表示同意，並且為殺他的人看守衣服。’

你們聽過我從前在猶太教中所行的：怎樣極力逼迫殘害神的教會，

不過，我現在為了供應聖徒的事要往耶路撒冷去；因為馬其頓和亞該亞人樂意捐了一些錢，給耶路撒冷聖徒中的窮人。

彼得伸手扶她起來，叫聖徒們和寡婦都進來，把多加活活地交給他們。

把他推出城外，用石頭打他。那些證人把自己的衣服，放在一個名叫掃羅的青年人腳前。

我又看見那婦人喝聖徒的血，和那為耶穌作見證的人的血，喝醉了。我看見了她，就大大驚奇。

掃羅仍向主的門徒發恐嚇兇殺的話。他到大祭司那裡，要求他發公函給大馬士革各會堂，如果發現奉行這道的人，准他連男帶女緝拿到耶路撒冷。
