其時、為斯道故、掀起軒然大波。有銀匠名底米丟者、因製諦雅納銀龕、使其徒獲利甚鉅、至是、集其徒與同業曰：『諸君皆知吾人致富、端賴此藝、乃彼葆樂、不第於依法所、且幾遍亞細亞、勸阻多人、謂人手所製者非神、此汝等所見所聞也。是不惟吾業有為人鄙棄之虞、即大女神諦雅納之廟、亦將衰落、而全亞細亞及普天下所敬之威靈、從此銷損矣。』眾聞之、憤甚、咆哮曰：『大哉依法所人之諦雅納！』於是全城騷動、眾執與葆樂同行之馬其頓人迦猶及亞里達古、蠭擁至戲園、葆樂欲衝入人叢、信徒止之。亞細亞諸紳乃葆樂之友、亦遣人勸勿冒險而入。時群眾紛亂、喧嚷不已；而太半則茫然不知其會集之所以也。有人擁亞力山大自人叢中出、猶太人推之使前。亞力山大以手示意、欲向眾分辯。眾識其為猶太人也、更同聲呼曰：『大哉依法所人之諦雅納！』如是者約二時之久。市書記長出而撫眾曰：『依法所人乎、普天之下、孰有不識依法所城乃為諦雅納廟及天降神像之守護者乎。事實昭然、不容置辯。是宜靜穆、不可造次。汝等所執諸人、既未盜廟物、亦未褻我女神。苟底米丟及其同業有所控訴自有公庭及其有司在；兩造對簿可也。欲決他事、亦可依法會議。今日之亂、實屬無理取鬧；倘被查究、吾人將何以自解？』語畢、即命眾散。

既留有日仍起程行；眾挈妻兒送至郊外、吾儕跽岸祈禱、辭別登舟、眾乃自返。

眾兄弟皆祝爾康樂。彼此當以聖潔之吻禮、互祝平安。

葆樂下樓、伏而撫之、謂眾曰：『勿憂、其命尚存。』

請以聖潔之吻禮、彼此致候。所有基督之教會、咸祝爾安。

予目前須赴馬其頓一行；此行既畢、當赴爾處。

蓋吾儕抵馬其頓時、險象環生、不遑寧息、外有鬥爭、內有憂怖；

既得之、攜之安提阿、與會眾相聚者、達一年之久、訓迪多人、門徒之被稱為「基督信徒」者、自安提阿始。

曩者吾適馬其頓、而留汝於伊法所者、欲汝勸告若干同人勿傳異端、

眾皆痛哭、抱葆樂之頸與之吻；

葆樂夜得異象、見一馬其頓人立而請曰：『駕臨馬其頓、以助吾人！』

請以聖潔之吻禮、為我致候諸兄弟。

彼此應以純潔之吻禮、互相請安。
