同人即送葆樂至海濱；而西拉、蒂茂德則仍留於此。葆樂既抵雅典、命護送者返、以催西拉、蒂茂德之至。方葆樂獨留雅典而候二人之至也、見邑中偶像充斥、衷心感傷、

予非基督、乃奉使為其前驅者耳。此乃予所夙言、爾曹當可為予作證。

葆樂夜得異象、見一馬其頓人立而請曰：『駕臨馬其頓、以助吾人！』

宗徒長老與會、眾遂推選素孚眾望之巴撒巴樹德及西拉二人、偕葆樂巴拿巴同赴安提阿；

而先遣從事基督福音之天主忠僕、兄弟蒂茂德、前來慰問、以堅爾之信德、

安得烈先遇其弟西門、而告之曰：『吾儕已遇美使。』美使之為言、基督也。

爾等素從予遊、亦當為予作證也。

兄弟鍚爾文、忠實可靠、吾所深知因託其寄爾尺素、以資勸慰、且證明凡此莫非天主聖寵。務望在此聖寵上、屹立不搖。

彼又命吾儕傳道於眾、證其已膺天主之命、而為黜陟幽明之主：

眾圍繞之、問曰：『汝使我心懸揣、將至何時？果為基督、請明以相告。』

惟予尚有洗禮當受、其事未成、衷心憂苦迫切、何可言喻。

凡吾輩所見所聞、不得不言也。』

葆樂經特鹿至路司得、有門徒名諦茂德者、猶太信婦之子、而其父則希臘籍也。
