亞波羅在哥林多的時候，保羅經過了上邊一帶地方，就來到以弗所；在那裏遇見幾個門徒，

乃因保羅早已定意越過以弗所，免得在亞細亞躭延，他急忙前走，巴不得趕五旬節能到耶路撒冷。

奉神旨意，作基督耶穌使徒的保羅，寫信給在以弗所的聖徒，就是在基督耶穌裏有忠心的人。

每逢安息日，保羅在會堂裏辯論，勸化猶太人和希臘人。

我往馬其頓去的時候，曾勸你仍住在以弗所，好囑咐那幾個人不可傳異教，

「你所看見的當寫在書上，達與以弗所、士每拿、別迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉鐵非、老底嘉那七個教會。」

「你要寫信給以弗所教會的使者，說：『那右手拿着七星、在七個金燈臺中間行走的，說：

我若當日像尋常人，在以弗所同野獸戰鬥，那於我有甚麼益處呢？若死人不復活，我們就吃吃喝喝吧！因為明天要死了。

凡住在以弗所的，無論是猶太人，是希臘人，都知道這事，也都懼怕；主耶穌的名從此就尊大了。

我已經打發推基古往以弗所去。

這保羅不但在以弗所，也幾乎在亞細亞全地，引誘迷惑許多人，說：『人手所做的，不是神。』這是你們所看見所聽見的。

保羅照他素常的規矩進去，一連三個安息日，本着聖經與他們辯論，講解陳明基督必須受害，從死裏復活；又說：「我所傳與你們的這位耶穌就是基督。」

就辭別他們，說：「神若許我，我還要回到你們這裏」；於是開船離了以弗所。
