Those nations were Edom, Moab, Ammon, Philistia and Amalek. He also set apart for the Lord what he had taken from Hadadezer, the son of Rehob. Hadadezer was king of Zobah.

亚扪人见亚兰人败逃，也从亚比筛面前逃回城去。约押打完亚扪人，便回师耶路撒冷。

他又打败了摩押人，让他们并排躺在地上，然后用绳子去量，每两绳之内的人都要被杀掉，第三绳的人留下性命。从此，摩押人臣服于大卫，向他进贡。

于是，大卫把这些器皿和他从以东、摩押、亚扪、非利士和亚玛力各国夺来的金银都分别出来，奉献给耶和华。

他对亚比筛说：“倘若我胜不过亚兰人，你便过来支援我；倘若你胜不过亚扪人，我便过去支援你。

那时，约押正攻打亚扪人的都城拉巴。他派人去向大卫禀告说：“我攻打拉巴，已经占领了城的水源。请你赶快带领其余的兵马前来围攻并占领这城，免得我攻取这城以后，人们用我的名字为这城命名。”于是，大卫便召集了所有的人去攻打拉巴，攻陷了那城，夺取了亚扪王头上的金冠。这金冠重达三十四公斤，上面还镶了宝石，人们将它戴在大卫头上。大卫从城里得到许多战利品，又把城里的人带出来，让他们从事锯木、耕田、砍树和做砖的工作。他用同样的方式对待亚扪其他城邑的居民。之后，大卫和全军返回耶路撒冷。

非利士人听说大卫已被膏立为以色列王，就全军出动，要搜寻大卫。大卫得到消息便退到坚城里。非利士人大军压境，散布在利乏音谷。大卫求问耶和华：“我可以去迎战非利士人吗？你会把他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华说：“去吧，我必把他们交在你手里。”大卫前往巴力·毗拉心，在那里打败了敌人。他说：“耶和华像洪水决堤一样为我冲垮了仇敌。”于是他称那地方为巴力·毗拉心。大卫和他的军队带走了非利士人所丢弃的神像。后来非利士人又卷土重来，散布在利乏音谷。大卫又求问耶和华，耶和华说：“你不要正面出击，要绕到他们后面，从桑林对面攻打他们。当你听见桑树梢上响起脚步声时，就要快速进攻，因为那表示耶和华已在你前头去攻击非利士的军队了。”大卫遵命而行，打败非利士人，由迦巴一直杀到基色。

也夺了所有的牛羊。他的部下把这些牛羊赶到自己的牲畜前面，说：“这是大卫的战利品。”

他率领部下袭击基述人、基色人和亚玛力人，这些人自古以来就住在远至书珥和埃及一带的地方。
