無此者則盲、僅視所近、已忘舊罪之潔、

無此則盲於心、視不及遠、其受潔去舊罪、皆忘之矣、

人若無此、則如目矇、視不及遠、忘其舊日之罪已潔、

凡不具此等美德者、無異短視淺識之心盲、而自忘其舊罪已蒙滌除矣。

But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

But what if these things don’t describe someone at all? Then that person can’t see very well. In fact, they are blind. They have forgotten that their past sins have been washed away.

But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.

For the one who lacks these qualities is blind or short sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

But concerning the one who lacks such things– he is blind. That is to say, he is nearsighted, since he has forgotten about the cleansing of his past sins.

that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?By no means! What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.But someone will say,“ You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe— and shudder!Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;and the Scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”— and he was called a friend of God.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him,“ You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

When Jesus heard this, he said to him,“ One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him,“ Are we also blind?”Jesus said to them,“ If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say,‘ We see,’ your guilt remains.

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
