“ None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers,“ but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”

“ You are my king and master,” said one of his officers.“ None of us is on Israel’s side. But Elisha is a prophet in Israel. He tells the king of Israel even the words you speak in your own bedroom.”

And one of his servants said,“ None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

One of his servants said,“ No one, my lord the king. Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel even the words you speak in your bedroom.”

One of his servants said,“ No, my lord, the king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

And one of his servants said,“ None, my Lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

And one of his servants said, Nay, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

One of his servants said,“ No one, my lord the king. Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel even the words you speak in your bedroom.”

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that[ is] in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

One of his advisers said,“ No, my master, O king. The prophet Elisha who lives in Israel keeps telling the king of Israel the things you say in your bedroom.”

One of his servants said,“ No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.“ While Your Majesty was sleeping, you dreamed about coming events. He who reveals secrets has shown you what is going to happen.And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart.

Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

But when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes in dismay, he sent this message to him:“ Why are you so upset? Send Naaman to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel.”

“ I said to him,‘ Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no mystery is too great for you to solve. Now tell me what my dream means.“‘ While I was lying in my bed, this is what I dreamed. I saw a large tree in the middle of the earth.The tree grew very tall and strong, reaching high into the heavens for all the world to see.It had fresh green leaves, and it was loaded with fruit for all to eat. Wild animals lived in its shade, and birds nested in its branches. All the world was fed from this tree.“‘ Then as I lay there dreaming, I saw a messenger, a holy one, coming down from heaven.The messenger shouted,“ Cut down the tree and lop off its branches! Shake off its leaves and scatter its fruit! Chase the wild animals from its shade and the birds from its branches.But leave the stump and the roots in the ground, bound with a band of iron and bronze and surrounded by tender grass. Now let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the wild animals among the plants of the field.For seven periods of time, let him have the mind of a wild animal instead of the mind of a human.For this has been decreed by the messengers; it is commanded by the holy ones, so that everyone may know that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world. He gives them to anyone he chooses— even to the lowliest of people.”“‘ Belteshazzar, that was the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, had. Now tell me what it means, for none of the wise men of my kingdom can do so. But you can tell me because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.’

Never make light of the king, even in your thoughts. And don’t make fun of the powerful, even in your own bedroom. For a little bird might deliver your message and tell them what you said.

Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the Lord.“ No, I am far away at the same time.Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord.

But immediately Elisha, the man of God, would warn the king of Israel,“ Do not go near that place, for the Arameans are planning to mobilize their troops there.”So the king of Israel would send word to the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he would be on the alert there.

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

One day the girl said to her mistress,“ I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.”

The king said to Daniel,“ Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.”

He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.”

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.

But his officers tried to reason with him and said,“ Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply,‘ Go and wash and be cured!’”So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed!Then Naaman and his entire party went back to find the man of God. They stood before him, and Naaman said,“ Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”
