Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.And the fruit that consists of righteousness is planted in peace among those who make peace.

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.

Paul looked directly at the council and said,“ Brothers, I have lived my life with a clear conscience before God to this day.”

But we have rejected shameful hidden deeds, not behaving with deceptiveness or distorting the word of God, but by open proclamation of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience before God.

This is the reason I do my best to always have a clear conscience toward God and toward people.

But he knows the pathway that I take; if he tested me, I would come forth like gold.My feet have followed his steps closely; I have kept to his way and have not turned aside.I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my allotted portion.

You are witnesses, and so is God, as to how holy and righteous and blameless our conduct was toward you who believe.

All this has happened to us, even though we have not rejected you or violated your covenant with us.We have not been unfaithful, nor have we disobeyed your commands.Yet you have battered us, leaving us a heap of ruins overrun by wild dogs; you have covered us with darkness.If we had rejected our God, and spread out our hands in prayer to another god,would not God discover it, for he knows one’s thoughts?

And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you– not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God– through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

But the aim of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

So then, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of vice and evil, but with the bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.

My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on the power of God.

I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others.

For these are the kind who do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By their smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of the naive.Your obedience is known to all and thus I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.

But I am afraid that just as the serpent deceived Eve by his treachery, your minds may be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not acquitted because of this. The one who judges me is the Lord.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain. In fact, I worked harder than all of them– yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

so that you can decide what is best, and thus be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ,

I will never declare that you three are in the right; until I die, I will not set aside my integrity!I will maintain my righteousness and never let it go; my conscience will not reproach me for as long as I live.

Even if he slays me, I will hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face!

Now I will most gladly spend and be spent for your lives! If I love you more, am I to be loved less?But be that as it may, I have not burdened you. Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you.

Therefore when I was planning to do this, I did not do so without thinking about what I was doing, did I? Or do I make my plans according to mere human standards so that I would be saying both“ Yes, yes” and“ No, no” at the same time?

Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

Now obey the LORD and worship him with integrity and loyalty. Put aside the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt and worship the LORD.

I am telling the truth in Christ( I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me in the Holy Spirit–
