King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

其母母或作祖母瑪迦為亞舍拉作偶像、故貶其太后之位、斫其偶像、焚於汲淪溪濱、所有邱壇、雖尚未廢、然亞撒畢生誠心向主、以父所區別為聖、及己所區別為聖之金銀器皿、進於主殿、亞撒與以色列王巴沙在世時、彼此恆戰、以色列王巴沙、上而攻猶大、建拉瑪、欲使屬猶大王亞撒之民、不得出入、亞撒以屬主殿之府庫中、與屬王宮之府庫中、所餘之金銀、遣其臣僕、餽都大瑪色之亞蘭王希旬孫他伯利們子便哈達、曰、爾父與我父間有約、爾我間亦當有約、我以金銀餽爾、求爾廢與以色列王巴沙所立之約、使之不攻我而歸、便哈達從亞撒王之言、遣其軍帥攻以色列邑、擊以雲、但、亞伯伯瑪迦、基尼律全地、拿弗他利全地、巴沙聞之、則不建拉瑪、仍居得撒、亞撒王集猶大民眾、不遺一人、使移巴沙建拉瑪之石與木、亞撒王用以建便雅憫之迦巴迦巴即基比亞與米斯巴、亞撒其餘之事、凡其所行、及其勇力、與所建之城邑、俱載於猶大列王記、亞撒年老、足有疾、亞撒與列祖同寢、偕其列祖葬於祖大衛之城、子約沙法繼之為王、○

將亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶由主殿移之出、攜至耶路撒冷外、汲淪溪畔焚之、搗之成粉、揚於民之墓上、

毀諸祭壇、斫諸亞舍拉、碎諸偶像、搗之成粉、在以色列遍地斫諸日像、乃歸耶路撒冷、○

如復有人妄言未來事、妄言未來事或作妄述預言則生之之父母必責之曰、爾佯託主名而言、必不得生、生之之父母、必因其言未來事言末來事或作傳述預言下同刺之、

以所造之犢、焚以火、搗為粉、灑於水、令以色列人飲之、

摩西謂之曰、以色列天主耶和華如是命曰、爾曹各繫刀於腰、在營中往來、從此門至彼門、拜犢者、無論兄弟朋友鄰里、盡殺之、利未人遵摩西所命而行、是日、民中死亡者約三千人、

亞撒為善行義、在主其天主前、除異邦神之祭壇、及邱壇、毀柱像、斷諸亞舍拉、命猶大人尋求主其列祖之天主、遵行主之律法誡命、在猶大諸邑、除邱壇與日像、亞撒在位時國享平康、

如爾同母之兄弟、或爾子女、或爾愛妻、或爾密友、暗誘爾曰、我儕莫若往事異邦之神、此神即爾與爾祖素所未識者、即爾四周諸國之民所事之神、或離爾近、或離爾遠、自地此極至地彼極、爾毋從之、毋聽之、爾目毋顧惜之、毋矜恤之、毋隱其尤、

爾當毀其壇、碎其柱像、斫其諸亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶以火焚其偶像、爾之待彼當如是、

猶大列王在亞哈斯樓頂上、所建之祭壇、及瑪拿西在主殿之兩院中所建之祭壇、王悉毀之、速以其塵土傾於汲淪溪畔、

故此後我不以外貌認人、雖曾以外貌認基督、今後不復如此認之、

爾取罪之物、即所作之犢像、我焚之以火、擣碎磨細、成為細塵、以其塵灑於由山流下之溪、

因遵主命、守主約、論及父母、亦能言我未見之、不認兄弟、不識子女、

時耶穌之母及兄弟來、立於外、遣人呼之、眾環耶穌而坐、或告之曰、爾母及兄弟在外尋爾、耶穌答曰、孰為我母、孰為我兄弟、遂周視環坐者曰、觀我母及我兄弟、蓋凡遵天主旨者、即我兄弟姊妹及母也、

其親屬聞之即至、欲援而止之、因謂其癲狂、

我必毀爾邱壇、滅爾日像、使爾之屍與爾偶像偃仆一處、我心必憎爾、

其神之偶像、必焚之以火、其上之金銀、勿貪勿取、恐爾陷於網羅、因為主爾之天主所惡者、可惡之物、毋攜入爾室、恐爾亦成為當滅者、與物無異、爾必憾之甚、憎之極、因係當滅之物、
