Ye[ are] witnesses, and God[ also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

You are witnesses of how we lived among you believers. God is also a witness that we were holy and godly and without blame.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.

You yourselves are our witnesses— and so is God— that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers.

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine[ shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Neither as being lords over[ God’s] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

When the ear heard[ me], then it blessed me; and when the eye saw[ me], it gave witness to me:Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and[ him that had] none to help him.The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment[ was] as a robe and a diadem.I was eyes to the blind, and feet[ was] I to the lame.I[ was] a father to the poor: and the cause[ which] I knew not I searched out.And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God[ is] witness:

Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I[ am] pure from the blood of all[ men].

Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them,[ and] to turn away thy wrath from them.

Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:But in all[ things] approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and[ yet] true;As unknown, and[ yet] well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and[ yet] possessing all things.

And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and[ toward] men.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

Behold, here I[ am]: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received[ any] bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.And he said unto them, The LORD[ is] witness against you, and his anointed[ is] witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered,[ He is] witness.

Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me;( yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take[ it]; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.

I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?For what portion of God[ is there] from above? and[ what] inheritance of the Almighty from on high?[ Is] not destruction to the wicked? and a strange[ punishment] to the workers of iniquity?Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;[ Then] let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or[ if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;[ Then] let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.For this[ is] an heinous crime; yea, it[ is] an iniquity[ to be punished by] the judges.For it[ is] a fire[ that] consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?If I have withheld the poor from[ their] desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;( For from my youth he was brought up with me, as[ with] a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;)If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;If his loins have not blessed me, and[ if] he were[ not] warmed with the fleece of my sheep;If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:[ Then] let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.For destruction[ from] God[ was] a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold,[ Thou art] my confidence;If I rejoiced because my wealth[ was] great, and because mine hand had gotten much;If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking[ in] brightness;And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:This also[ were] an iniquity[ to be punished by] the judge: for I should have denied the God[ that is] above.If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.The stranger did not lodge in the street:[ but] I opened my doors to the traveller.If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence,[ and] went not out of the door?Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire[ is, that] the Almighty would answer me, and[ that] mine adversary had written a book.Surely I would take it upon my shoulder,[ and] bind it[ as] a crown to me.I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:

The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.For all his judgments[ were] before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
