As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father[ doth] his children,

你們也曉得，我們怎樣勸勉你們，安慰你們，囑咐你們各人，好像父親待自己的兒女一樣，

正如你們知道的，我們是怎樣好像父親對待兒女一樣對待你們各人：

你們也知道、我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女一般：既勸勉着你們，又撫慰又誓求着你們，

正如你們知道我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女那樣；

爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、猶父之於子、勸勉、安慰、指證、

爾知我勸慰、丁寧爾眾、猶父之勵厥子、

爾亦知我儕勤勉安慰爾中各人、如父於子然、

蓋爾等固知我等待爾人人、一如為父者之待其子、獎掖慰勉、耳提面命、

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

For you know how, like a father with his children,

And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

As you know, like a father with his own children,

just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn[ you].For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet[ have ye] not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

I charge[ thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort[ you] by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God,[ so] ye would abound more and more.

I charge[ thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do[ it]: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God,[ even] my God,[ will be] with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.For I was my father’s son, tender and only[ beloved] in the sight of my mother.He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.Get wisdom, get understanding: forget[ it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.Wisdom[ is] the principal thing;[ therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.[ It is] not for kings, O Lemuel,[ it is] not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and[ before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

And they that have believing masters, let them not despise[ them], because they are brethren; but rather do[ them] service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

[ Exhort] servants to be obedient unto their own masters,[ and] to please[ them] well in all[ things]; not answering again;

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend,[ if] thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

My son, attend unto my wisdom,[ and] bow thine ear to my understanding:That thou mayest regard discretion, and[ that] thy lips may keep knowledge.

And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
