王派人去召來祭司亞希突的兒子亞希米勒和他父親的全家，就是在挪伯的祭司們；他們所有的人就來到王那裡。

但掃羅和軍兵顧惜亞甲和上好的牛羊、肥牛犢、羊羔以及一切美好的東西，不願意把這些滅絕淨盡；至於一切輕賤的、沒有價值的東西，他們都滅絕淨盡。

要知道，那不施憐憫的人，要受毫無憐憫的審判；憐憫勝過審判。

就在那日，亞述人要在挪伯站住，揮手攻擊錫安城的山，就是耶路撒冷的岡陵。

大衛來到挪伯，去見祭司亞希米勒。亞希米勒戰戰兢兢地迎接大衛，問他：「為什麼你獨自一人，沒有人跟著你呢？」

那時以東人多益站在掃羅的臣僕中，回答說：「我曾看見耶西的兒子去了挪伯，到亞希突的兒子亞希米勒那裡。
