於是王對多益說：「你過去擊殺祭司們。」以東人多益就過去擊殺那些祭司。那天他殺了八十五個佩戴細麻布以弗得的人，

扫罗就对多益说：“你去把祭司杀掉！”以东人多益就杀了他们。那天，他下手杀了八十五个穿细麻布以弗得的祭司。

于是王对多益说：“你转过去把祭司击杀。”以东人多益就转过去把祭司击杀了。那一天，他杀了八十五个穿细麻布以弗得的人，

The king then ordered Doeg,“ You turn and strike down the priests.” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

Then the king ordered Doeg,“ You go and strike down the priests.” So Doeg, the Edomite, went and struck them down. That day he killed 85 priests who wore linen aprons.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You do it.” So Doeg the Edomite turned on them and killed them that day, eighty five priests in all, still wearing their priestly garments.

So the king said to Doeg,“ Go and execute the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite went and executed the priests himself. On that day, he killed eighty-five men who wore linen ephods.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You, turn around and attack the priests!” And Doeg the Edomite turned around and attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty five men who wore the linen ephod.

And the king said to Doeg,“ You turn and kill the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck the priests, and killed on that day eighty-five men who wore a linen ephod.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and he slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

So the king said to Doeg,“ Go and execute the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite went and executed the priests himself. On that day, he killed 85 men who wore linen ephods.

當時，撒母耳還是個孩子，穿戴著細麻布的以弗得，在耶和華面前事奉。

「因此耶和華以色列的神宣告：我確實說過，你和你的父家要永遠行在我面前。但現在，耶和華宣告：絕不會這樣了！因為尊重我的，我必尊重他；輕視我的，他必被藐視。「看哪，日子將到，我必砍下你的膀臂和你父家的膀臂，使你家中沒有一個老年人。當以色列在各方面蒙福的時候，你卻要看到我居所的危難；你家中永遠不再有老年人。你家中沒被我從祭壇前剪除的人，必使你的眼睛衰竭、心裡憂傷；而所有你家中增添的人，都死於壯年。

我在耶路撒冷也是這樣做的。我不但從祭司長們得了權柄把許多聖徒關進監獄，而且當他們被殺的時候，我也投了一票。我在各會堂裡，經常用刑逼他們說褻瀆的話，又越發惱恨他們，甚至到國外的城市去逼迫他們。

到那日，我針對以利家所說的一切話，我必全部實行在以利身上。我曾告訴過他，我必為他知道的罪孽永遠懲罰他的家；這罪就是他的兒子們褻瀆神，而他卻沒有制止他們。因此我向以利家起了誓：『以利家的罪孽是永遠不能用祭物或供物來贖清的。』」

你家中所有存留的人都將為一塊銀子、一塊餅，來向他下拜，說：『求你給我安排一個祭司的職份，好讓我有塊餅吃。』」

我不是從以色列所有支派中揀選了他們作我的祭司嗎？我讓他們上我的祭壇燒香，在我面前佩戴以弗得，把以色列子民的各種火祭都賜給了你的父家。
