So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say,“ May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

So Jezebel sent a message to Elijah. She said,“ You can be sure that I will kill you, just as I killed the other prophets. I’ll do it by this time tomorrow. If I don’t, may the gods punish me greatly.”

Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying,“ So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.”

So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah:“ May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”

So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying,“ May the gods punish me and do so severely if I don’t make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow!”

既將彼得逮住了，便放在監裏，交給每組四人的四組兵看守，有意思要在逾越節後把他提上來在民眾面前辦他。於是彼得被看守在監裏；教會卻為他迫切地禱告上帝。希律將要把他提出來的前一夜，彼得睡在兩個兵當中，被兩條鎖鍊捆綁着；門前的守衛兵們又看守着監牢。

你辱罵誰，褻瀆誰？你揚起聲來、攻擊誰呢？你高舉眼目、傲慢誰呢？乃是傲慢以色列之聖者呀。

來，如今請注意！你們說：『今天或明天我們要往某某城，在那裏度一年，作生意賺錢』，然而明天的事你們還不知道呢！你們的生命甚麼樣呢？你們簡直是水氣，出現少時，隨後就不見了。

法老對摩西說：『你離開我去吧；可要小心；不要再見我的面；因為你見我面那日子，你就得死。』

如今你們若準備得好，甚麼時候你們聽見號角、簫笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、風笛、和各樣樂器的聲音，若俯伏向我所造的像下拜，卻還可以；若不下拜，就必須立刻被扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中；試問有甚麼樣的神能解救你們脫離我的手呢？』

你坐下、你出、你入、我都知道；你還向我激怒！因你向我激怒，又因你倨傲的話上我耳中，我就必放鈎子鈎你的鼻子，把嚼環放在你嘴上，使你從你來的路上轉回去。』

『你們去對猶大王希西家這麼說：「不要讓你的上帝、你所倚靠的神欺哄你說：耶路撒冷必不至於交在亞述王手裏。看哪，你總聽說過亞述諸王怎樣將各地盡行毁滅歸神罷；難道你還能得援救麼？我列祖所毁滅的國：歌散、哈蘭、利色、和在提拉撒的伊甸人：這些國的神何曾援救過它呢？

仇敵說：「我要追趕，我要趕上；我要分擄物；我要拿住他們，來滿足心願。我要拔出刀來，親手趕滅他們。」

不要為明日而誇張自己，因為一日要發生甚麼事、你尚且不知道呢。

約押雖然沒有歸向押沙龍，卻歸向了亞多尼雅；這風聲傳到約押那裏，約押就逃到永恆主的帳棚，抓緊祭壇的角。
