So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say,“ May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

So Jezebel sent a message to Elijah. She said,“ You can be sure that I will kill you, just as I killed the other prophets. I’ll do it by this time tomorrow. If I don’t, may the gods punish me greatly.”

Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying,“ So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.”

So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah:“ May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”

他說：“如果今日沙法的兒子以利沙的頭仍留在他身上，願神懲罰我，而且加倍懲罰我。”

你死在哪裡，我也要死在哪裡，葬在哪裡。除非死亡把你我分離；如果我離開你，願耶和華加倍懲罰我。”

捉到了，就把他關在監裡，交給四班士兵看守，每班四個人，打算過了逾越節，把他提出來交給民眾。彼得就這樣被拘留在監裡；但教會卻為他迫切地祈求神。希律要提他出來的前一夜，彼得被兩條鎖鍊鎖住，睡在兩個士兵中間，還有衛兵守在門前。

你辱罵了誰，褻瀆了誰？你揚聲攻擊誰呢？你高舉眼目是向誰傲慢呢？就是攻擊以色列的聖者。

你們說：“今天或明天，我們要到某城去，在那裡住一年，作生意賺錢。”其實明天怎樣，你們並不知道。你們的生命是甚麼呢？你們本來是過眼雲煙，轉瞬之間就消逝了。

法老對摩西說：“你離開我去吧，你要小心，不要再見我的面；因為你再見我面的時候，你必定死。”

現在，如果你們想清楚，一聽見角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、豎琴、風笛和各種樂器的聲音，就俯伏向我所做的像下拜，那還可以。如果你們不下拜，就必立刻扔在烈火的窰中。哪裡有神能救你們脫離我的手呢？”

你坐下，你出去，你進來，以及你對我所發的烈怒，我都知道。因為你向我發了烈怒，你狂傲的話進入我的耳中，我要把我的鈎子鈎在你的鼻子上，把嚼環套在你的嘴上，使你在你來的路上轉回去。

“你們要對猶大王希西家說：‘不要讓你所信靠的神欺騙你說：耶路撒冷不會交在亞述王的手中。看哪，你聽過亞述列王怎樣對付列國，把它們完全毀滅，你會得著解救嗎？我祖先所消滅的民族，就是歌散人、哈蘭人、利色人和在提．拉撒的伊甸人，他們的神可曾解救他們嗎？

仇敵說：‘我要追趕，我要追上，我要均分擄物；我要在他們身上得到滿足；我要拔出刀來，親手趕絕他們。’

不要為明日自誇，因為今天要發生甚麼事，你尚且不知道。

約押雖然沒有擁護過押沙龍，但曾擁護亞多尼雅；這消息傳到約押那裡，他就逃到耶和華的帳幕裡去，抓緊祭壇的角。
