And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.

I, the Lord, will strike down Israel. Israel will be like tall grass swaying in the water. I will pull Israel up from this good land by the roots. I gave it to their people who lived long ago. I will scatter Israel to the east side of the Euphrates River. That is because they made the Lord very angry. They made poles used to worship the female god named Asherah.

爾上帝耶和華所許諸福、既臨於爾、爾反其道、則爾上帝耶和華亦必使諸禍降臨、迨爾滅亡、在爾上帝耶和華所賜之腴壤。如爾背爾上帝耶和華所命之約、服事崇拜他上帝、則耶和華必震怒爾、使爾速亡、於其所賜之腴壤。

比迦在位之時、亞述王滴臘比利斯至、陷以雲、亞伯伯馬迦、雜挪、基特、夏朔、基列、加利利、納大利四境、擄其民人、至於亞述。

上帝必使爾永亡、驅爾於室外、滅爾於宇內兮、

必摧其壇、毀其像、斫其偶、斷不容爾以他上帝匹我、此乃我耶和華之名也、故他上帝爾勿崇拜。

摧其壇、毀其像、爇其偶、斫其所雕刻之形、滅其名於斯土、惟爾不可如是以事爾上帝耶和華。

惡者見絕、蹤跡泯滅。

迨耶和華驅之於前、循眾僕先知所言、於是以色列族被虜離斯土、至亞述、迄今尚未歸焉。

我今日指天地以作證、爾於所得約但之西境、不能延命、乃必滅甚速、至於盡亡。耶和華必散爾於四方、所遺於列國者、亦已無幾、

昔彼未至斯土、亞摩哩人居之、高若柏香木、強為橡樹、我剝其果、絕其根、盡歸殲滅、

昔耶和華善待爾曹、使爾眾多、是其所喜、厥後殲滅爾曹、使爾盡亡、絕於所據之地、亦其所喜。耶和華將使爾散處於億兆中自地極至天涯、在彼必事他上帝、木石所作、即爾祖及爾素未識者。在異邦中、爾不獲寧宇、亦無駐足之所、耶和華在彼使爾心慄目盲、衷懷不懌。爾生命不能安保、為之懸慮、晝夜驚懼。因此災害、為爾心所懼、目所見、故朝必曰願得及夕、暮必曰願得及旦。我曾語爾之途、必不復見、耶和華使爾駕舟、至於埃及、被鬻為僕婢、無人市爾。

俱必問曰、耶和華降罰於斯土、何為至於如此、其烈怒之甚、又曷故乎。人必曰、昔導斯民出於埃及、其祖之上帝耶和華與之立約、斯民違其言、從他上帝而崇奉之、然他上帝彼所未識、耶和華亦未嘗姑聽其服事、故震怒斯民、以書所載之咒詛、加乎其身。耶和華怒甚烈、氣甚憤、拔其根株、驅逐於異邦、即以今日之事為證。

耶和華將遷爾、及爾所立之王、至爾與爾祖所未識之國、在彼爾奉事他上帝、木石所作者。

迦薩必荒蕪、亞實基倫必傾圯、亞實突人當亭午之時、必遭驅逐、以革倫人必拔其根株、

若爾行惡、則爾之王、爰及爾曹、俱必滅亡。

以色列民蔑我法度、憾我禮儀、使其故土遠離、田疇荒寂、於斯時也、土地得享安息、待民服罪。

在高岡之巔、茂林之下、建諸崇邱、作諸偶像。昔異族行可惡之事、耶和華於以色列族前逐之、今民效尤、其地仍有孌童。○

約翰之使者反耶穌舉約翰謂眾曰、爾素出野、欲何觀耶、葦動於風乎、

罪人惡黨、同歸於盡、凡棄我者、淪胥以亡。昔爾在園囿林樹間、奉事偶像、以為悅懌、後必恥之。

爾國荒涼。如是之甚、使敵居斯土、無不駭異。我必散爾於異邦、襲爾以白刃、荒寂爾居、掃除爾邑。爾既轉徙於敵國、則斯土荒寂、其壤可享安息。

乃敢作惡、較前人尤甚、既違背我、鑄作偶像、奉事他上帝、干我震怒。

何爾又肩摩落之龕、舉爾上帝臉番之星、即爾所造之像、欲拜之者、我將徙爾於巴比倫外矣、

我將徙爾於大馬色外、我萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。
