暗利用二他連得銀子向撒瑪買了撒馬利亞山，在山上造城，就按着山的原主撒瑪的名，給所造的城起名叫撒馬利亞。

神人奉耶和華的命向壇呼叫，說：「壇哪，壇哪！耶和華如此說：大衛家裏必生一個兒子，名叫約西亞，他必將邱壇的祭司，就是在你上面燒香的，殺在你上面，人的骨頭也必燒在你上面。」

我又要毀壞你們的邱壇，砍下你們的日像，把你們的屍首扔在你們偶像的身上；我的心也必厭惡你們。

耶羅波安在邱壇那裏建殿，將那不屬利未人的凡民立為祭司。

約西亞回頭，看見山上的墳墓，就打發人將墳墓裏的骸骨取出來，燒在壇上，污穢了壇，正如從前神人宣傳耶和華的話。約西亞問說：「我所看見的是甚麼碑？」那城裏的人回答說：「先前有神人從猶大來，預先說王現在向伯特利壇所行的事，這就是他的墓碑。」約西亞說：「由他吧！不要挪移他的骸骨。」他們就不動他的骸骨，也不動從撒馬利亞來那先知的骸骨。從前以色列諸王在撒馬利亞的城邑建築邱壇的殿，惹動耶和華的怒氣，現在約西亞都廢去了，就如他在伯特利所行的一般；

但亞瑪謝所打發回去、不許一同出征的那些軍兵攻打猶大各城，從撒馬利亞直到伯‧和崙，殺了三千人，搶了許多財物。

他就把牛犢一隻安在伯特利，一隻安在但。

和尊大的亞斯那巴所遷移、安置在撒馬利亞城，並大河西一帶地方的人等，

必須經過撒馬利亞，於是到了撒馬利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。
