But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:‘ You will listen carefully yet will never understand, you will look closely yet will never comprehend.For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’“ But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear.For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake.For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

However, the spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and then the spiritual.

These people are divisive, worldly, devoid of the Spirit.

Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.It is written in the prophets,‘ And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me.

it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

The scorner seeks wisdom but finds none, but understanding is easy for a discerning person.

But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.

Although Jesus had performed so many miraculous signs before them, they still refused to believe in him,

How can you believe, if you accept praise from one another and don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?

But he turned and said to Peter,“ Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”

And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong concerning sin and righteousness and judgment–concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.“ I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but will speak whatever he hears, and will tell you what is to come.He will glorify me, because he will receive from me what is mine and will tell it to you.Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what is mine and will tell it to you.

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb and be born a second time, can he?”Jesus answered,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I said to you.

A woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, a God- fearing woman, listened to us. The Lord opened her heart to respond to what Paul was saying.

I tell you the solemn truth, if anyone obeys my teaching, he will never see death.”Then the Judeans responded,“ Now we know you’re possessed by a demon! Both Abraham and the prophets died, and yet you say,‘ If anyone obeys my teaching, he will never experience death.’

Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept my teaching.

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send you from the Father– the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father– he will testify about me,

but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

but since it concerns points of disagreement about words and names and your own law, settle it yourselves. I will not be a judge of these things!”

Now when they heard about the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff, but others said,“ We will hear you again about this.”

As Paul was saying these things in his defense, Festus exclaimed loudly,“ You have lost your mind, Paul! Your great learning is driving you insane!”But Paul replied,“ I have not lost my mind, most excellent Festus, but am speaking true and rational words.

Also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him, and some were asking,“ What does this foolish babbler want to say?” Others said,“ He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods.”( They said this because he was proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.)

Rather they had several points of disagreement with him about their own religion and about a man named Jesus who was dead, whom Paul claimed to be alive.

Many of them were saying,“ He is possessed by a demon and has lost his mind! Why do you listen to him?”
