吾今之所以先派兄弟者、亦欲爾等有備、庶幾吾所誇獎爾等之事、不成子虛烏有；萬一馬其頓人與吾偕來時、見爾等無所準備、則不但爾等、即吾儕亦將汗顏無地矣！因此吾欲諸兄弟先赴爾處、預為之地、以成全爾等之美意。蓋此事實為美舉、而非有所勉強也。

值主日、我正凝思出神、忽聞大聲於我後、如吹角曰：

吾儕茲可告慰於爾等者、乃天主所賜於馬其頓諸聖會之恩寵也。彼等雖艱苦備嘗、而神樂恆湧於心中；貧窮至極、而熱情獨異乎尋常；慷慨輸將、惟力是視、甚有超過其力量者；此吾可為之作證也。

週首昧爽、諸婦攜所備香品謁墓、

是為週首。既暮、諸徒以懼猶太人故、共聚一室、諸戶緊扃。而耶穌進立其中曰：『賜爾平安！』

夫人忠於小事、亦必忠於大事、不義於小事、亦必不義於大事。

目前亟宜完成此事、以償宿願。惟所貴在心、但望各人隨量樂助、勿取過其量也。夫吾豈欲加重爾等之累、以釋他人之肩耶？亦曰平均而已矣。此時以爾之有餘、補彼之不足；將來可以彼之有餘、補爾之不足；亦曰平均而已矣。經云：『多穫者無所餘、少穫者無所缺、』此之謂也。

此女傾其所有、而膏澤吾身、所以備吾之葬耳。

八日後、諸徒仍聚室內、多默與俱、諸戶緊扃。耶穌復進立其中曰：『賜爾平安！』
