For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated.But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.All of us, like sheep, have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wrongdoing of us all To fall on Him.He was oppressed and afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off from the land of the living For the wrongdoing of my people, to whom the blow was due?And His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, For He will bear their wrongdoings.Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the wrongdoers.

For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place,as to whether the Christ was to suffer, and whether, as first from the resurrection of the dead, He would proclaim light both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”

and He said to them,“ So it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

The next day he* saw Jesus coming to him, and* said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread;

He who was delivered over because of our wrongdoings, and was raised because of our justification.

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

“ Awake, sword, against My Shepherd, And against the Man, My Associate,” Declares the Lord of armies.“ Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace

for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

“ Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place.So you are to know and understand that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty two weeks; it will be built again, with streets and moat, even in times of distress.Then after the sixty two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood—

Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to come into His glory?”Then beginning with Moses and with all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us— for it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—

seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way.

and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins for himself, as well as for the people.

and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Save me, God, For the waters have threatened my life.I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, those who oppose me with lies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.God, You know my foolishness, And my guilt is not hidden from You.May those who wait for You not be ashamed because of me, Lord God of armies; May those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, God of Israel,Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face.I have become estranged from my brothers, And a stranger to my mother’s sons.For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my disgrace.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb to them.Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me.But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth.Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink; May I be rescued from those who hate me, and from the depths of water.May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit close its mouth on me.Answer me, Lord, for Your mercy is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.Come near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!You know my disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor; All my enemies are known to You.Disgrace has broken my heart, and I am so sick. And I waited for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.They also gave me a bitter herb in my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.May their table before them become a snare; And when they are at peace, may it become a trap.May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their hips shake continually.Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.May their camp be desolated; May there be none living in their tents.For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself struck, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded.Add guilt to their guilt, And may they not come into Your righteousness.May they be wiped out of the book of life, And may they not be recorded with the righteous.But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, God, set me safely on high.I will praise the name of God with song, And exalt Him with thanksgiving.And it will please the Lord better than an ox Or bull with horns and hoofs.The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive.For the Lord hears the needy, And does not despise those of His who are prisoners.Heaven and earth shall praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, So that they may live there and possess it.The descendants of His servants will inherit it, And those who love His name will live in it.

“ Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me.

For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of people in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;

This is the way any person is to regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.

whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished;

And He said to them,“ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved; but the one who has not believed will be condemned.

My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning.My God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest.Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You rescued them.To You they cried out and they fled to safety; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.But I am a worm and not a person, A disgrace of mankind and despised by the people.All who see me deride me; They sneer, they shake their heads, saying,“ Turn him over to the Lord; let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.I was cast upon You from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.Do not be far from me, for trouble is near; For there is no one to help.Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.They open their mouths wide at me, As a ravening and roaring lion.I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, And my tongue clings to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death.For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;They divide my garments among them, And they cast lots for my clothing.But You, Lord, do not be far away; You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.Save my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.Save me from the lion’s mouth; From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.You who fear the Lord, praise Him; All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.For He has not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.From You comes my praise in the great assembly; I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him.The afflicted will eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord. May your heart live forever!All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations will worship before You.For the kingdom is the Lord’s And He rules over the nations.All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship, All those who go down to the dust will kneel before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.A posterity will serve Him; It will be told of the Lord to the coming generation.They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death,and they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up.”

Now I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I handed them down to you.

For Christ also suffered for sins once for all time, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

And I will make enemies Of you and the woman, And of your offspring and her Descendant; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”
