Jeremiah 第48章
Judgment on Moab
148:1 ch. 25:21; 2 Kgs. 24:2; See Isa. 15–16; Ezek. 25:8-11; Amos 2:1-3; Zeph. 2:8, 9Concerning Moab.
Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:
48:1 ver. 23; Num. 32:37; Josh. 13:19; Ezek. 25:9Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken;
the fortress is put to shame 48:1 ver. 20, 39and broken down;
2the renown of Moab is no more.
In 48:2 ver. 34, 45; ch. 49:3; Num. 32:37; Isa. 15:4Heshbon they planned disaster against her:
‘Come, let us cut her off 48:2 [ch. 31:36] from being a nation!’
You also, O 48:2 [Isa. 10:31]Madmen, shall be brought to silence;
the sword shall pursue you.
‘Desolation and great destruction!’
4Moab is destroyed;
her little ones have made a cry.
they go up weeping;48:5 Hebrew weeping goes up with weeping
for 48:5 [See ver. 3above]at the descent of Horonaim
they have heard the distressed cry48:5 Septuagint (compare Isaiah 15:5) heard the cry of destruction.
6Flee! Save yourselves!
You will be like 48:6 ch. 17:6a juniper in the desert!
you also shall be taken;
and 48:7 Num. 21:29Chemosh 48:7 [Isa. 46:2] shall go into exile
with 48:7 ch. 49:3his priests and his officials.
and no city shall escape;
the valley shall perish,
and 48:8 ver. 21; Josh. 13:9, 17, 21; [Deut. 3:10]the plain shall be destroyed,
as the Lord has spoken.
9“Give wings to Moab,
for she would fly away;
her cities shall become a desolation,
with no inhabitant in them.
1048:10 Judg. 5:23; [1 Sam. 15:3, 9; 1 Kgs. 20:42] “Cursed is he who does 48:10 [1 Cor. 15:58]the work of the Lord with slackness, and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from bloodshed.
11“Moab has been at ease from his youth
and has 48:11 Zeph. 1:12settled on his dregs;
he has not been emptied from vessel to vessel,
nor has he gone into exile;
so his taste remains in him,
and his scent is not changed.
12“Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I shall send to him pourers who will pour him, and empty his vessels and break his48:12 Septuagint, Aquila; Hebrew their jars in pieces.
13Then 48:13 [Num. 21:29; Isa. 16:14] Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as 48:13 [Hos. 10:6] the house of Israel was ashamed of 48:13 [1 Kgs. 12:29]Bethel, their confidence.
14“How do you say, ‘We are heroes
and mighty men of war’?
and the choicest of his young men have 48:15 ch. 50:27gone down to slaughter,
16The calamity of Moab is near at hand,
and his affliction hastens swiftly.
and all who know his name;
the glorious staff.’
and sit on the parched ground,
O inhabitant of 48:18 Num. 21:30; Isa. 15:2Dibon!
For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you;
he has destroyed your strongholds.
O inhabitant of 48:19 Deut. 2:36; Josh. 13:9Aroer!
Ask him who flees and her who escapes;
say, ‘What has happened?’
20Moab is put to shame, for it is broken;
48:20 [See ver. 17above] wail and cry!
Tell it beside 48:20 Isa. 16:2the Arnon,
that 48:20 [See ver. 15above]Moab is laid waste.
21“Judgment has come upon 48:21 ver. 8; Num. 21:23the tableland, upon Holon, and 48:21 Josh. 13:18Jahzah, and Mephaath,
24and 48:24 Amos 2:2Kerioth, and 48:24 ch. 49:13, 22; Isa. 63:1Bozrah, and all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near.
2548:25 [Ps. 75:10] The horn of Moab is cut off, and 48:25 [Ezek. 30:21]his arm is broken, declares the Lord.
2648:26 ch. 25:27; 51:39; Isa. 19:14“Make him drunk, 48:26 ver. 42because he magnified himself against the Lord, so that Moab shall 48:26 ch. 25:27; 51:39; Isa. 19:14wallow in his vomit, 48:26 ver. 39and he too shall be held in derision.
2748:27 Zeph. 2:8; [Ezek. 25:8] Was not Israel a derision to you? 48:27 [ch. 2:26] Was he found among thieves, that whenever you spoke of him 48:27 Ps. 64:8; Lam. 2:15; Matt. 27:39you wagged your head?
O inhabitants of Moab!
in the sides of the mouth of a gorge.
he is very proud—
of his loftiness, his pride, and his arrogance,
and the haughtiness of his heart.
30I know his insolence, declares the Lord;
48:30 [ch. 50:36]his boasts are false,
his deeds are false.
I cry out for all Moab;
for the men of 48:31 [2 Kgs. 3:25]Kir-hareseth I mourn.
32More than for 48:32 Num. 21:32Jazer I weep for you,
48:32 Isa. 16:8, 9O vine of 48:32 Josh. 13:19Sibmah!
48:32 [Ps. 80:11]Your branches passed over the sea,
reached to the Sea of 48:32 Num. 21:32Jazer;
on your summer fruits and your grapes
the destroyer has fallen.
3348:33 Isa. 16:10Gladness and joy have been taken away
from the fruitful land of Moab;
I have made the wine cease from the winepresses;
no one treads them with shouts of joy;
the shouting is not the shout of joy.
3448:34 See Isa. 15:4-6“From the outcry at Heshbon even to Elealeh, as far as Jahaz they utter their voice, from Zoar to 48:34 ver. 3Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah. For the waters of Nimrim also have become desolate.
35And I will bring to an end in Moab, declares the Lord, him who offers sacrifice in 48:35 [Isa. 15:2; 16:12; Ezek. 20:29]the high place and makes offerings to his god.
3748:37 Isa. 15:2, 3“For every head is shaved and every beard cut off. 48:37 [ch. 47:5] On all the hands are gashes, and 48:37 ch. 49:3; Lam. 2:10; See ch. 4:8around the waist is sackcloth.
40For thus says the Lord:
“Behold, 48:40 ch. 49:22; [Deut. 28:49; Ezek. 17:3] one shall fly swiftly like an eagle
48:40 [Isa. 8:8]and spread his wings against Moab;
and the strongholds seized.
like the heart of 48:41 See ch. 6:24a woman in her birth pains;
because 48:42 ver. 26he magnified himself against the Lord.
4348:43 Isa. 24:17, 18; Lam. 3:47Terror, pit, and snare
are before you, O inhabitant of Moab!
declares the Lord.
44He who flees from the terror
shall fall into the pit,
and he who climbs out of the pit
shall be caught in the snare.
48:44 [ch. 11:23]For I will bring these things upon Moab,
the year of their punishment,
declares the Lord.
45“In the shadow of Heshbon
fugitives stop without strength,
for fire came out from Heshbon,
flame from the house of Sihon;
it has destroyed 48:45 Num. 24:17the forehead of Moab,
the crown of 48:45 Num. 24:17the sons of tumult.
The people of 48:46 ver. 13Chemosh are undone,
for your sons have been taken captive,
and your daughters into captivity.
in the latter days, declares the Lord.”
Thus far is the judgment on Moab.
