Ezekiel 第17章
Parable of Two Eagles and a Vine
1The word of the Lord came to me:
217:2 See ch. 2:1“Son of man, 17:2 [ch. 20:49; 24:3]propound a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;
3say, Thus says the Lord God: 17:3 Jer. 48:40A great eagle 17:3 ver. 7with great wings and long pinions, 17:3 ver. 7rich in plumage of many colors, came 17:3 [Jer. 22:23] to Lebanon 17:3 ver. 22; ch. 31:3, 4, 10and took the top of the cedar.
4He broke off the topmost of its young twigs and carried it to a land of trade and set it in a city of merchants.
5Then he took of the seed of the land 17:5 See Deut. 8:7-10and planted it in fertile soil.17:5 Hebrew in a field of seed He placed it beside abundant waters. 17:5 [Isa. 44:4]He set it like a willow twig,
9“Say, Thus says the Lord God: 17:9 [See ver. 7above]Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, so that it withers, so that all its fresh sprouting leaves wither? It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it from its roots.
10Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? 17:10 ch. 19:12; [Hos. 13:15]Will it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?”
11Then the word of the Lord came to me:
12“Say now to 17:12 See ch. 2:3-5the rebellious house, 17:12 See ch. 12:9-11Do you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, 17:12 2 Kgs. 24:11, 12the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon.
1317:13 2 Kgs. 24:17And he took one of the royal offspring17:13 Hebrew seed17:13 ver. 15, 16, 18; 2 Chr. 36:13and made a covenant with him, 17:13 [ch. 21:23] putting him under oath (17:13 2 Kgs. 24:14, 15the chief men of the land he had taken away),
14that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand.
1517:15 [ver. 7; ch. 23:27; 2 Kgs. 24:20; 2 Chr. 36:13; Jer. 37:5-7] But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors 17:15 Deut. 17:16; [Isa. 31:1, 3]; 36:6, 9to Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. 17:15 [ver. 9, 10] Will he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he 17:15 ch. 16:59; [ver. 13]break the covenant and yet escape?
1617:16 See ch. 16:48“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely 17:16 [ch. 12:13] in the place where the king dwells 17:16 ver. 13who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die.
1717:17 ver. 15; See Jer. 37:5-8Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, 17:17 See ch. 4:2when mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives.
18He despised the oath in breaking the covenant, and behold, he gave his hand and did all these things; he shall not escape.
19Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head.
2017:20 See ch. 12:13I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon 17:20 [ch. 20:35; 38:22] and enter into judgment with him there 17:20 See ch. 14:13for the treachery he has committed against me.
21And all the pick17:21 Some Hebrew manuscripts, Syriac, Targum; most Hebrew manuscripts all the fugitives of his troops shall fall by the sword, 17:21 See ch. 5:10and the survivors shall be scattered to every wind, and you shall know that 17:21 ch. 21:17, 32; 26:5, 14; 28:10; 30:12; 34:24; 39:5; [ver. 24]I am the Lord; I have spoken.”
22Thus says the Lord God: 17:22 ver. 3“I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and will set it out. 17:22 ver. 4I will break off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and 17:22 [Ps. 2:6]I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
2317:23 ch. 20:40; 34:14On the mountain height of Israel will I plant it, that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. 17:23 ch. 31:6; Dan. 4:12; Matt. 13:32And under it will dwell every kind of bird; in the shade of its branches birds of every sort will nest.
24And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; 17:24 [ch. 21:26, 27] I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up 17:24 ch. 20:47; [Luke 23:31] the green tree, and make 17:24 ch. 20:47; [Luke 23:31] the dry tree flourish. 17:24 ch. 22:14; 24:14; 36:36; 37:14I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”
