Judgment and Salvation
165:1 Cited Rom. 10:20; [Eph. 2:12, 13] I was ready to be sought by 65:1 [ch. 2:2, 3; 18:7; 19:19, 25; Zech. 14:16]those who did not ask for me;
I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.
I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
to a nation that was not called by65:1 Or that did not call upon my name.
265:2 Rom. 10:21I spread out my hands all the day
to a rebellious people,
who walk in a way that is not good,
following their own devices;
3a people who provoke me
to my face continually,
65:3 ch. 1:29; 66:17; [ch. 57:3-6]sacrificing in gardens
and making offerings on bricks;
4who sit in tombs,
and spend the night in secret places;
65:4 ch. 66:17who eat pig’s flesh,
and broth of tainted meat is in their vessels;
5who say, “Keep to yourself,
do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.”
65:5 ch. 1:31; 9:18These are a smoke in my nostrils,
a fire that burns all the day.
6Behold, 65:6 [Jer. 2:22; 17:1] it is written before me:
65:6 Ps. 50:3“I will not keep silent, but I will repay;
65:6 Ps. 79:12; [Jer. 16:18]I will indeed repay into their lap
7both your iniquities 65:7 Ex. 20:5; [Matt. 23:35] and your fathers’ iniquities together,
says the Lord;
65:7 [Ezek. 20:27, 28]because they made offerings on the mountains
65:7 [Ezek. 20:27, 28]and insulted me on the hills,
I will measure into their lap
payment for their former deeds.”65:7 Or I will first measure their payment into their lap

8Thus says the Lord:
65:8 [ch. 17:6] “As the new wine is found in the cluster,
and they say, ‘Do not destroy it,
for there is a blessing in it,’
so I will do for my servants’ sake,
65:8 [ch. 2:21]and not destroy them all.
965:9 [ch. 27:6; 37:31]I will bring forth offspring from Jacob,
and from Judah possessors of my mountains;
my chosen shall possess it,
and my servants shall dwell there.
1065:10 ch. 33:9; 35:2Sharon shall become a pasture for flocks,
and 65:10 Hos. 2:15; [Josh. 7:26] the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down,
for my people 65:10 [ch. 51:1]who have sought me.
11But 65:11 [Josh. 24:20] you who forsake the Lord,
who forget 65:11 ver. 25; Joel 3:17my holy mountain,
who 65:11 Ezek. 23:41; [1 Cor. 10:21]set a table for Fortune
and 65:11 Ezek. 23:41; [1 Cor. 10:21]fill cups of mixed wine for Destiny,
12I will destine you to the sword,
and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter,
65:12 ch. 66:4; Prov. 1:24; Jer. 7:13because, when I called, you did not answer;
when I spoke, you did not listen,
65:12 ch. 66:4but you did what was evil in my eyes
and chose what I did not delight in.”

13Therefore thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, 65:13 ch. 55:1; Ps. 22:26my servants shall eat,
but you shall be hungry;
behold, my servants shall drink,
but you shall be thirsty;
behold, my servants shall rejoice,
but you shall be put to shame;
14behold, 65:14 [Ps. 5:11]my servants shall sing for gladness of heart,
but you shall cry out for pain of heart
and shall wail for breaking of spirit.
15You shall leave your name to 65:15 ver. 9my chosen 65:15 [Deut. 28:37; Jer. 29:22; Zech. 8:13] for a curse,
and the Lord God will put you to death,
but his servants 65:15 ch. 62:2he will call by another name,
16so that he who 65:16 Jer. 4:2blesses himself in the land
shall bless himself by 65:16 Jer. 4:2the God of truth,
and he who takes an oath in the land
shall swear by 65:16 [Deut. 32:4] the God of truth;
65:16 [ch. 43:18, 19]because the former troubles are forgotten
and are hidden from my eyes.
New Heavens and a New Earth
17“For behold, 65:17 ch. 66:22; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21:1I create new heavens
and a new earth,
and the former things shall not be remembered
or come into mind.
18But be glad and rejoice forever
in that which I create;
for behold, 65:18 [Jer. 31:7]I create Jerusalem to be a joy,
and her people to be a gladness.
1965:19 ch. 62:5; 66:10I will rejoice in Jerusalem
and be glad in my people;
65:19 ch. 35:10; Rev. 21:4no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping
and the cry of distress.
20No more shall there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not fill out his days,
for 65:20 [Prov. 3:2] the young man shall die a hundred years old,
and 65:20 Eccles. 8:12the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.
2165:21 Ezek. 28:26; [Deut. 28:30]They shall build houses and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
2265:22 [See ver. 21above] They shall not build and another inhabit;
they shall not plant and another eat;
65:22 See Ps. 92:12-14for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,
and my chosen shall long enjoy65:22 Hebrew shall wear out the work of their hands.
2365:23 ch. 49:4They shall not labor in vain
65:23 [Deut. 28:41] or bear children for calamity,65:23 Or for sudden terror
for 65:23 ch. 61:9; See Ps. 115:12-15they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord,
and their descendants with them.
2465:24 [Ps. 32:5] Before they call I will answer;
65:24 [Dan. 9:21]while they are yet speaking I will hear.
2565:25 ch. 11:6, 7The wolf and the lamb shall graze together;
the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
and 65:25 Gen. 3:14; Mic. 7:17dust shall be the serpent’s food.
65:25 ch. 11:9They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord.
