Psalm 115
Glory to God Alone
1Not to us, Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory
because of your faithful love, because of your truth.115:1 Ezk 36:22; Dn 9:18–19
2Why should the nations say,
3Our God is in heaven
4Their idols are silver and gold,
5They have mouths but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6They have ears but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.115:5–6 Is 46:7
7They have hands but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk.115:7 Jr 10:5
They cannot make a sound with their throats.115:7 Hab 2:18
8Those who make them are115:8 Or May those who make them become just like them,
as are all who trust in them.115:4–8 Ps 135:15–18
He is their help and shield.115:10–11 Ps 33:20
He is their help and shield.
12The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
He will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;115:12 Ps 98:3
13he will bless those who fear the Lord —
14May the Lord add to your numbers,
both yours and your children’s.115:14 Dt 1:11
15May you be blessed by the Lord,
but the earth he has given to the human race.115:16 Ps 89:11
17It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
18But we will bless the Lord,
