Ascribe to the Lord Glory
A Psalm of David.

1Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,29:1 Hebrew sons of God, or sons of might
29:1 Ps. 96:7, 8; 1 Chr. 16:28, 29; [Ps. 68:34]ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in 29:2 Ps. 110:3; 1 Chr. 16:29; [Ex. 28:2]the splendor of holiness.29:2 Or in holy attire

3The voice of the Lord is over 29:3 [Ps. 18:11] the waters;
the God of glory 29:3 Job 37:4, 5thunders,
the Lord, over many waters.
4The voice of the Lord is 29:4 Ps. 68:33powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks 29:5 Ps. 104:16; Judg. 9:15the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes Lebanon to 29:6 Ps. 114:4, 6skip like a calf,
and 29:6 Deut. 3:9Sirion like a young 29:6 Num. 23:22wild ox.

7The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of 29:8 Num. 13:26Kadesh.

9The voice of the Lord makes 29:9 [Job 39:1-3]the deer give birth29:9 Revocalization yields makes the oaks to shake
and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10The Lord sits enthroned over 29:10 [Gen. 6:17] the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned 29:10 Ps. 10:16as king forever.
11May the Lord give 29:11 Ps. 68:35; [Isa. 40:29] strength to his people!
