此乃歡樂之邑、安居無慮、其心自謂惟我而已、我外無他、今奚荒寂、成為獸臥之所、凡經過者、必搖手而嗤笑之、

此乃淫佚之邑、僭稱主母、自謂莫之與京、今變荒蕪、獸伏其間、凡過之者、必作怨憤之聲、搖首不已。

此邑素淫樂、安居無畏、心中曰、惟有我、我外無他、忽變荒蕪、獸伏之處、凡過之者、俱戲笑搖首、

This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself,“ I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.

Nineveh was a carefree city. It lived in safety. It said to itself,“ I am the one! No one is greater than I am.” But it has been destroyed. Wild animals make their home there. All those who pass by laugh and shake their fists at it.

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

This is the boisterous city, once so secure.“ I am the greatest!” it boasted.“ No other city can compare with me!” But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a haven for wild animals. Everyone passing by will laugh in derision and shake a defiant fist.

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

This is the presumptuous city That dwells securely, Who says in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, A resting place for animals! Everyone who passes by her will hiss And wave his hand in contempt.

This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart,“ I am it, and there is none besides me.” How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

This is the self-assured city that lives in security, that thinks to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her jeers and shakes his fist.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

This is how the once-proud city will end up– the city that was so secure. She thought to herself,“ I am unique! No one can compare to me!” What a heap of ruins she has become, a place where wild animals live! Everyone who passes by her taunts her and shakes his fist.

你曾說：『我必永遠作王后！』你不把這些事放在心上，也不顧念事情的結局。「因此，你這驕奢的人哪——你安然居住，心裡說：『只有我，除我以外再沒有別的；我必不會寡居，也不會經歷喪子之事。』——現在你要聽這話：

你這充滿叫嚷的喧鬧之城、歡騰之邑啊！你當中被殺的人，卻不是被刀所殺，也不是死於戰場。

那些路過的人辱罵耶穌，搖著頭，

她怎樣炫耀自己、驕奢淫逸，你們也要照樣給她折磨和悲傷，因為她心裡說：『我坐著女王的位子，我不是寡婦，絕不會經歷悲傷。』為此，在一天之內她所受的災害，就是死亡、悲傷和饑荒，就要來到。她將要在烈火中被燒掉，因為主、神——審判她的那一位是強有力的。」地上的眾君王，就是那些與她行淫亂、一同驕奢淫逸的，當看見焚燒她時的煙，就會為她捶胸哀哭。他們因懼怕她所受的折磨，就遠遠地站著，說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，強大的巴比倫城啊！因為一時之間，你的審判就來到了！」地上的商人也為她哭泣、悲傷，因為再也沒有人買他們的貨物了；那些貨物就是：金、銀、寶石、珍珠，細麻布、紫色布、絲綢、深紅色布，各種香木，各種象牙製品，各種極貴重的木、銅、鐵和大理石的製品，肉桂、香料、香、香液、乳香；酒、油、麵粉、麥子；牲畜、羊、馬、馬車；人的肉體和靈魂。「你心所貪戀的果子離開了你；一切珍饈美味、華麗物品，都從你那裡消逝了，人絕不能再看到它們了。」販賣這些東西的商人，就是那些由於她而發了財的人，因懼怕她所受的折磨，就會遠遠地站著，哭泣、悲傷，說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，那曾身穿細麻、紫色、深紅色衣服，以金子、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的城啊！這麼多的財富，竟然在一時之間就化為烏有了！」所有的船長、所有到處航行的人、水手們、所有靠海為業的人，都遠遠地站著。他們看著焚燒她時的煙，呼喊說：「哪一個城能與這大城相比呢？」他們把塵土撒在自己頭上，哭泣、悲傷，呼喊說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，所有靠著她在海上有船隻的人都因她的財富發了財。她竟然在一時之間就化為烏有了！

當主完成了針對錫安山和耶路撒冷的一切工作時，他必說：「我要懲罰亞述王心思自大的作為和眼目高傲的虛誇。」因為亞述王說：「這是我以自己手的能力和自己的智慧所做的，因為我很聰明——我挪移了列國的地界，搶掠了他們的財寶，又像一個壯士使他們的居民臣服。我的手找到列國的財富，如同找到鳥巢；我收取全地，好像收取遺棄的鳥蛋；沒有一個扇翅膀的，沒有一個張嘴的，也沒有一個啼叫的。」

安逸的婦女啊，你們要起來，聽我的聲音！安然無慮的女子啊，你們要傾聽我的言語！

你必對巴比倫王唱這首諷刺歌：「壓迫人的怎麼止息了呢？凶暴怎麼止息了呢？耶和華打斷了惡人的杖和管轄者的權杖——

義人看見，就會心存敬畏，並且譏笑這人：「看哪，這個人不把神當作自己的保障，他依靠自己豐盛的財富，靠自己的奸惡得勝。」
