That day belongs to the Lord, the God of Hosts, a day of vengeance to avenge Himself against His adversaries. The sword will devour and be satisfied; it will drink its fill of their blood, because it will be a sacrifice to the Lord, the God of Hosts, in the northern land by the Euphrates River.

The great Day of the Lord is near, near and rapidly approaching. Listen, the Day of the Lord— then the warrior’s cry is bitter.

Let all people be silent before the Lord, for He is coming from His holy dwelling.”

The Lord’s sword is covered with blood. It drips with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

“ In peace,” he replied.“ I’ve come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

Wail! For the day of the Lord is near. It will come like destruction from the Almighty.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and awe-inspiring Day of the Lord comes.

The Lord raises His voice in the presence of His army. His camp is very large; Those who carry out His command are powerful. Indeed, the Day of the Lord is terrible and dreadful— who can endure it?

Blow the horn in Zion; sound the alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the residents of the land tremble, for the Day of the Lord is coming; in fact, it is near—a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and dense overcast, like the dawn spreading over the mountains; a great and strong people appears, such as never existed in ages past and never will again in all the generations to come.

Woe to you who long for the Day of the Lord! What will the Day of the Lord be for you? It will be darkness and not light.It will be like a man who flees from a lion only to have a bear confront him. He goes home and rests his hand against the wall only to have a snake bite him.Won’t the Day of the Lord be darkness rather than light, even gloom without any brightness in it?

For a day belonging to the Lord of Hosts is coming against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up— it will be humbled—

I am so insignificant. How can I answer You? I place my hand over my mouth.I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but now I can add nothing.

Then He told him:“ A man was giving a large banquet and invited many.At the time of the banquet, he sent his slave to tell those who were invited,‘ Come, because everything is now ready.’

“ Son of man, this is what the Lord God says: Tell every kind of bird and all the wild animals: Assemble and come! Gather from all around to My sacrificial feast that I am slaughtering for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel; you will eat flesh and drink blood.You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the earth’s princes: rams, lambs, male goats, and all the fattened bulls of Bashan.You will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are drunk, at My sacrificial feast that I have prepared for you.At My table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, of mighty men and all the warriors.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.

Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.

From heaven You pronounced judgment. The earth feared and grew quietwhen God rose up to judge and to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah

But who are you, a mere man, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ Why did you make me like this?”

Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars.She has prepared her meat; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.She has sent out her female servants; she calls out from the highest points of the city:“ Whoever is inexperienced, enter here!” To the one who lacks sense, she says,“ Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mixed.Leave inexperience behind, and you will live; pursue the way of understanding.

Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.

Now we know that whatever the law says speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.

giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.

Doom has come on you, inhabitants of the land. The time has come; the day is near. There will be panic on the mountains and not celebration.

But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godlinessas you wait for and earnestly desire the coming of the day of God. The heavens will be on fire and be dissolved because of it, and the elements will melt with the heat.

“ Stop your fighting— and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”

Again, he sent out other slaves, and said,‘ Tell those who are invited: Look, I’ve prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’

A close relative and burner will remove his corpse from the house. He will call to someone in the inner recesses of the house,“ Any more with you?” That person will reply,“ None.” Then he will say,“ Silence, because Yahweh’s name must not be invoked.”

Look, the day is coming! Doom has gone out. The rod has blossomed; arrogance has bloomed.

Then I saw an angel standing on the sun, and he cried out in a loud voice, saying to all the birds flying high overhead,“ Come, gather together for the great supper of God,so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of their riders, and the flesh of everyone, both free and slave, small and great.”

He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness, for a man does not prevail by his own strength.Those who oppose the Lord will be shattered; He will thunder in the heavens against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give power to His king; He will lift up the horn of His anointed.

“ For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts,“ not leaving them root or branches.

Saul did not say anything that day because he thought,“ Something unexpected has happened; he must be ceremonially unclean— yes, that’s it, he is unclean.”
