The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir,” Says the Lord.

Against Damascus.“ Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet.Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor.Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy?Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts.“ I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.”

My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.

O Lord, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say,“ Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness and unprofitable things.”

In that day a man will look to his Maker, And his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.He will not look to the altars, The work of his hands; He will not respect what his fingers have made, Nor the wooden images nor the incense altars.

The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,“ Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord, And seek the Lord of hosts. I myself will go also.”Yes, many peoples and strong nations Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, And to pray before the Lord.’“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying,“ Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”

The burden against Damascus.“ Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap.The cities of Aroer are forsaken; They will be for flocks Which lie down, and no one will make them afraid.The fortress also will cease from Ephraim, The kingdom from Damascus, And the remnant of Syria; They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,” Says the Lord of hosts.

The Lord sent a word against Jacob, And it has fallen on Israel.All the people will know— Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria— Who say in pride and arrogance of heart:“ The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.”Therefore the Lord shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on,The Syrians before and the Philistines behind; And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, Nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel, Palm branch and bulrush in one day.The elder and honorable, he is the head; The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed.Therefore the Lord will have no joy in their young men, Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, And every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.For wickedness burns as the fire; It shall devour the briers and thorns, And kindle in the thickets of the forest; They shall mount up like rising smoke.Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts The land is burned up, And the people shall be as fuel for the fire; No man shall spare his brother.And he shall snatch on the right hand And be hungry; He shall devour on the left hand And not be satisfied; Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm.Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh; Together they shall be against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.

Thus says the Lord:“ As a shepherd takes from the mouth of a lion Two legs or a piece of an ear, So shall the children of Israel be taken out Who dwell in Samaria— In the corner of a bed and on the edge of a couch!

“ I will send out the curse,” says the Lord of hosts;“ It shall enter the house of the thief And the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. It shall remain in the midst of his house And consume it, with its timber and stones.”

He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.
