爾見耶路撒冷為敵軍所圍、當知其城墟無日矣。其時、在猶太境內者、亟宜避入深山。在城中者、亟出城。在鄉間者、勿入城。是為報應之日。經中所載、悉將見驗。當彼之時、孕婦乳母、實可哀也。蓋大難降於斯土、震怒臨於斯民、不死於刀兵、即被俘於列國。耶路撒冷必受外邦蹂躪、以迄外邦時運之滿盈。』

哀哉彼時之孕婦乳母也！爾宜祈禱、賜爾逃難時莫值隆冬禮日。斯時大難、實為創世以來、空前絕後。若不減其時日、血氣之倫、將無倖全；惟為蒙選者之故、時日必當見減。

惟見慘無人道之事、入禁地（讀者其深味斯言、）則在猶太者當避入深山、

定期將至、爾敵將周圍築壘、四面相逼、夷爾墉堞、滅爾子民、將無一片之石、仍留他石之上、凡此皆緣汝不識寵眷之日故也。』

迨見先知達尼理所言「面目猙獰、慘無人道之物」立於聖地、（讀者當會意）斯時在猶太者、應避入山中；

君王聞之震怒、發兵進討、殲其眾、火其居。

耶路撒冷乎、嗟爾殘殺先知、石擊天主星使之耶路撒冷乎！吾之欲集爾子女、如牝雞之覆翼其雛者、不已頻乎？而爾終莫之許也。今者爾室其墟矣！

惟在彼之上、尚有一耶路撒冷焉、則為主婦、亦即吾人之母氏也。經有之：『不妊不育之婦乎、爾可揚眉而吐氣矣。未經劬勞之女乎、爾可引吭而歡呼矣。無夫者之兒女、將多於有夫之婦者矣。』

維時、羅馬皇奧古斯多詔天下人民咸登版籍；

斯時之所遭、實為天主創世以來空前絕後之大難也
