Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.

People of Judah, ask the Lord to send rain in the spring. He is the one who sends the thunderstorms. He sends down showers of rain on all people. He gives everyone the plants in the fields.

Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.

Ask the LORD for rain in the season of spring rain. The LORD makes the rain clouds, and he will give them showers of rain and crops in the field for everyone.

Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.

For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children.

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.

I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.

Can any of the worthless foreign gods send us rain? Does it fall from the sky by itself? No, you are the one, O Lord our God! Only you can do such things. So we will wait for you to help us.

Then the Lord will bless you with rain at planting time. There will be wonderful harvests and plenty of pastureland for your livestock.

“ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am ready to hear Israel’s prayers and to increase their numbers like a flock.

I will make it a wild place where the vines are not pruned and the ground is not hoed, a place overgrown with briers and thorns. I will command the clouds to drop no rain on it.

He draws up the water vapor and then distills it into rain.The rain pours down from the clouds, and everyone benefits.Who can understand the spreading of the clouds and the thunder that rolls forth from heaven?See how he spreads the lightning around him and how it lights up the depths of the sea.By these mighty acts he nourishes the people, giving them food in abundance.

Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab,“ As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives— the God I serve— there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”

You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor.

I said,‘ Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’

Then Elijah said to Ahab,“ Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!”So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees.Then he said to his servant,“ Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said,“ I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look.Finally the seventh time, his servant told him,“ I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted,“ Hurry to Ahab and tell him,‘ Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel.

The skies above will be as unyielding as bronze, and the earth beneath will be as hard as iron.

When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.

Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring.The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil.

“ My heart pounds as I think of this. It trembles within me.Listen carefully to the thunder of God’s voice as it rolls from his mouth.It rolls across the heavens, and his lightning flashes in every direction.Then comes the roaring of the thunder— the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain it when he speaks.God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.“ He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down.

Then the remnant left in Israel will take their place among the nations. They will be like dew sent by the Lord or like rain falling on the grass, which no one can hold back and no one can restrain.

They longed for me to speak as people long for rain. They drank my words like a refreshing spring rain.

You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.

At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.

When the king smiles, there is life; his favor refreshes like a spring rain.

“ I kept the rain from falling when your crops needed it the most. I sent rain on one town but withheld it from another. Rain fell on one field, while another field withered away.

May the king’s rule be refreshing like spring rain on freshly cut grass, like the showers that water the earth.

“ If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul,then he will send the rains in their proper seasons— the early and late rains— so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil.

Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
