曩者吾適馬其頓、而留汝於伊法所者、欲汝勸告若干同人勿傳異端、勿傾心於無稽之談、以及不可窮究之祖譜耳。此種研究、徒滋紛爭、非所以建植信德、而促進天主之聖謨也。夫所當勸告於人者、一言以蔽之、亦曰以光明之心地、純潔之天良無妄之信德、存養愛德而已矣。今同人中頗有不此之務、而歧入蹈虛鑿空之迷途者；若輩好為律學之師、實則懵然不自知其所云、更不識其所信口論列者之為何物也。

使我無愛德、而具先知之靈賦、心通一切玄妙、一切知識、甚至有移山之信、則亦浮華無實耳。
