Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,

Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,

But as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Those who are under the yoke as slaves must regard their own masters as deserving of full respect. This will prevent the name of God and Christian teaching from being discredited.But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach them and exhort them about these things.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in every respect, not only when they are watching– like those who are strictly people- pleasers– but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.Whatever you are doing, work at it with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not for people,because you know that you will receive your inheritance from the Lord as the reward. Serve the Lord Christ.For the one who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there are no exceptions.

Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are perverse.For this finds God’s favor, if because of conscience toward God someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.For what credit is it if you sin and are mistreated and endure it? But if you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God.For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps.He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth.When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly.He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed.For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart as to Christ,not like those who do their work only when someone is watching– as people- pleasers– but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart.Obey with enthusiasm, as though serving the Lord and not people,because you know that each person, whether slave or free, if he does something good, this will be rewarded by the Lord.
