An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

是故為司牧者、其立身處世務期無疵可摘、平生未重娶、莊敬自持、循規蹈矩、處事有條不紊、待人和藹可親、優遇遠人、循循善誘；不可沉湎於酒、舉止暴躁；務須溫柔寬裕、與世無爭、不戀財物、尤宜齊家有道、教子有方、使其端正孝順；蓋不能自齊其家者、焉能治理天主之教會乎？奉教不久者、亦不宜遽充司牧；恐其妄自尊大、而蹈沙殫之覆轍。且在教外、亦須具有相當聲譽；恐遭輕侮、而陷於魔鬼之羅網。

副祭娶妻、亦以一次為限；教子齊家、無懈可擊。

方今不可駕御者、實繁有徒、信口雌黃、自欺欺人尤以割禮中人為甚。

勿酗酒而蕩檢、當醉心於聖神；

最宜和睦。如有不守本分者、望兄弟加以勸告。鼓勵懦者、扶持弱者、寬裕忍耐、足以有容。

猶太王希祿在位之日、有沙加理者、亞比雅班之司祭也。其妻亞倫裔、名依灑白爾。
